Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by tab1 on Mar 24, 2020 1:05:32 GMT 1, In law now , do they only need activating if only infectious diseases?new power to detain if can not find another law to detain you Previously they still required probable cause and can only hold you for 24 hours without charge except in exceptional circumstances. Now they can hold you if they feel you display symptoms and require you to undergo tests and detain you for up to 14 days, this is fucked in my view. They can manipulate to their agendas I agree example if on private property police can not arrest you under the mental health act, they can now use this law

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by moron on Mar 24, 2020 1:07:51 GMT 1, It still does not excuse Weiwei insulting Italy and Italians who have been dealing with a huge outbreak and large numbers of deaths in the way he did.
Some incidents in your link are nothing to do with racism and more to do with lack of information given out by the authorities about this pandemic and information that the virus arrived in Europe from China and people from China or who visited China were the carriers.
A lot of discrimination in your link is by Chinese and regional discrimination. Also by people in Hong Kong discriminating against people from China.
Americans discriminated against in Africa and the majority of discrimination and incidents according to your link from non European or Western countries.
So why did WeiWei select Italy to insult at the time they are dealing with more incidents and deaths than any other country?

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by moron on Mar 24, 2020 1:13:41 GMT 1, 300, allegedly. Only 270,000 to go. I don't know of the figures, but I would hope from tomorrow more will be offered accommodation. I would say maybe only half of homeless would take it anyway. It does leave a huge problem with those left on the street lacking money and food contributions. Soup kitchens have closed already and not sure if all volunteers can carry on, sad times... Don't forget the empty cruise ships that can serve as hospitals and the gov commandeering second homes to be able to house homeless etc in the ongoing lockdown situation.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by tab1 on Mar 24, 2020 1:16:58 GMT 1, Disgusting behaviour , glad it's global , this type of racism would only grow if stuck to one country , the rest of the world would also not care , although saying that it's in out country and some people do not care and are selfish. i could understand if we were the first country to be infected and all unknown what to come but we had news from china ,Spain and Italy to view what is going on and people continued to dismiss what is happening , many are sheep and have to be told what to do and enforced to do so , mostly the middle classes that spoilt it for everyone over the weekend ,by going out on mass ,Richmond park, snowdonia ,Lake District etc , the group that you think would have family values and are educated , a lot of selfish people out there that have put their families at risk and many others , half the groups seen on tv will probably be overcrowding the NHS in 6 weeks time

Well the answer to your question is that he didnt. He made the joke 19 days ago when we were living in a much different Corona reality. You can either linger on it and be offended or stop looking at it and move along.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by moron on Mar 24, 2020 1:33:21 GMT 1,
"A woman was punched and knocked unconscious after she stepped in to defend her Chinese friend who was accused of carrying coronavirus.
Trainee lawyer Meera Solanki, from Solihull, was out with friends celebrating her 29th birthday at Birmingham's Ana Rocha Bar and Gallery on Frederick Street.
Miss Solanki was inside the venue with her friends including Mandy Huang, 28, who was visiting from London, when the group were targeted by a group of Asian men."
'"There were a group of Asian men inside the venue - one of them kept coming up to me and harassing me. He seemed to have a problem with me being an Indian girl with a multi-racial group of friends,' she told The Sunday Mercury."
"'For some reason he got really angry with her. He started abusing her calling her a dirty c****.
'He said 'take your f****** coronavirus and take it back home.'"
"'He punched me in the head, I hit the pavement and was knocked unconcious,' Miss Solanki said.
An ambulance was called to the scene and a witness said: 'What I saw was beyond despicable. A totally vicious assault.'"
"'The attacker is described as Asian, 5ft 8ins tall, of large build and was wearing a flat cap and hoodie at the time."

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Express Post on Mar 24, 2020 1:33:24 GMT 1, Ai Weiwei post versus these incidents in Italy.
Bring the Guidos and Guidettes down a notch.
Italy La Repubblica reported that the director of Rome's prestigious Santa Cecilia music conservatory, Roberto Giuliani, suspended lessons for all Asian studentsโKorean, Chinese, Japanese, with Koreans the largest group affectedโdue to the epidemic, though most of the students were second-generation immigrants.[111][112]
According to The Washington Post, people especially from South Korea and China experienced increased mockery and discrimination.[3]
It was posted on social media that a bar around the Trevi Fountain had a sign not allowing entrance to anyone from China because of "international safety measures". It was later removed by police.[113]
Dozens of Chinese stores were vandalized in the northern towns of Como, Brescia, and Varese. Many Chinese stores reported a decline in business.[114]
People of Chinese and Filipino descents reported assaults (some serious enough to require hospitalization), harassment, and being refused services. Some public officials asked students of Asian origin to stay home.[114]
On 24 February 2020, a Chinese man was barred from entering a gas station in Cassola in Vicenza, Veneto and was told "You have coronavirus, you cannot enter!" at which point somebody broke a bottle on his head causing severe injuries.[115] The same day, an elderly Filipino pensioner was attacked and punched in a supermarket in the town of Mariano Comense, in Como, Lombardy. Singer and TV personality Francesco Facchinetti was seen intervening and defending the victim.[116]
Veneto regional governor Luca Zaia apologized after claiming that the Chinese eat live mice.[117]
On 8 March 2020, a Japanese restaurant in Rivoli, in Torino, Piedmont was the target of an arson attack by a group of teens who taunted the owners, calling them carriers of the epidemic.[118]

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Express Post on Mar 24, 2020 1:41:35 GMT 1, For our friends across the pond, asian in Britain usually refer to the South Asians, i.e. Bangledeshis, Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans. But mainly the Indians and Pakistanis. No chinese attacking chinese attacks in this situation.

Is it art or him just being disrespectful towards Italy. Seems strange he would be doing this. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-F5oTagY-u He is a t**t and an opportunist who makes money by playing the victim. He provocates ands**t stirs then goes crying that people are against him while being supported by his wealthy art luvvie globalist no borders mates.
His art is not good but he is promoted enough and in interviews he comes across as thick.
Who knows if he is on something when he does this stuff or is just gormless?
I think he is a liar and he called all Germans nazis a week or so ago and said they are all racists that's why he left Germany for UK. He creates and looks for excuses to be the victim and profits from it. He said he was kicked out of three taxis in Berlin because the cab drivers were racist but does not give the real reason and does not give the actual ethnicity of the cab drivers.

As a high profile artist and poster boy against Chinese commie oppression in a similar way to how Rothko was promoted and displayed against Soviet Union. By making that instagram post what he has succeeded in doing is stirring up hatred between the Italians and the Chinese while he sits back and profits from it. The deaths in Italy that he posts on his i g page have nothing to do with government oppression or anything similar. He just promotes himself on the back of and it and these people have relatives and friends in Italy. Looks like the problem is him causing problems by having some form of warped mentality. Or maybe he's just a thick c**t
Italians have contacted the mayor and prime minister in Italy about his instagram posts and also turned against him in Italy. He has clearly misjudged people.

He made the joke 19 days ago when we were living in a much different Corona reality. You can either linger on it and be offended or stop looking at it and move along. You are wrong about the Corona reality. The first lockdown in Italy was on February 23rd, well before he made that post. www.theguardian.com/world/2020/feb/23/italy-draconian-measures-effort-halt-coronavirus-outbreak-spread

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by moron on Mar 24, 2020 2:16:04 GMT 1, and on the bright side
Taliban pledges not to kill healthcare workers as fear of a coronavirus epidemic spreads in Afghanistan
"a 31 year old woman living in Takhar province, said that in her village in a Taliban-controlled area there was a health clinic with only male doctors.
'When we get sick we are not allowed to go to a doctor, instead our husbands bring medicine for us,' Rahila told Reuters, asking not to publish her full name over safety concerns. 'Who will test the women?'"

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Express Post on Mar 24, 2020 2:18:07 GMT 1, Feel free to list other coronavirus racially motivated attacks.
Also if the Italian leaders weren't clowns, and telling everyone to go out, drink aperitivos and eat pizza, they wouldn't be in this mess. It set the attitude for the rest of the population.
Ai Weiwei post versus these incidents in Italy. Bring the Guidos and Guidettes down a notch. Italy La Repubblica reported that the director of Rome's prestigious Santa Cecilia music conservatory, Roberto Giuliani, suspended lessons for all Asian studentsโKorean, Chinese, Japanese, with Koreans the largest group affectedโdue to the epidemic, though most of the students were second-generation immigrants.[111][112] According to The Washington Post, people especially from South Korea and China experienced increased mockery and discrimination.[3] It was posted on social media that a bar around the Trevi Fountain had a sign not allowing entrance to anyone from China because of "international safety measures". It was later removed by police.[113] Dozens of Chinese stores were vandalized in the northern towns of Como, Brescia, and Varese. Many Chinese stores reported a decline in business.[114] People of Chinese and Filipino descents reported assaults (some serious enough to require hospitalization), harassment, and being refused services. Some public officials asked students of Asian origin to stay home.[114] On 24 February 2020, a Chinese man was barred from entering a gas station in Cassola in Vicenza, Veneto and was told "You have coronavirus, you cannot enter!" at which point somebody broke a bottle on his head causing severe injuries.[115] The same day, an elderly Filipino pensioner was attacked and punched in a supermarket in the town of Mariano Comense, in Como, Lombardy. Singer and TV personality Francesco Facchinetti was seen intervening and defending the victim.[116] Veneto regional governor Luca Zaia apologized after claiming that the Chinese eat live mice.[117] On 8 March 2020, a Japanese restaurant in Rivoli, in Torino, Piedmont was the target of an arson attack by a group of teens who taunted the owners, calling them carriers of the epidemic.[118] Out of the article in your link why have you only copied and pasted incidents in Italy and excluded all the other countries? ย Looks to me like you are trying hard to justify fat boy WeiWei'sย insult against Italians who have the highest number of fatalities from corona virus.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Express Post on Mar 24, 2020 3:46:54 GMT 1, I don't hear you condemning the racial attacks against the east asians but you're condemning a joke made in bad taste. And if you read it carefully, he's joking about the spread. Not death. Don't make up shรญt.
Enjoy the aperitivo and carbonaravirus!
Ah, some statistics!Great! What an excellent way to justify how miserable you are... "i joke about deaths... everyone is doing so, even great artists, why shouldn't I?". You are a real genius. Che essere miserabile che sei.

Makes**t up?!? Condemn racist attacks against east asians?!?
I condemn the only racial attack I read here, made by an arsehole a few pages back... The same arsehole who now tries to justify himself linking articles to show everybody is just like him, that is a perfect racist arsehole. Not even able to understand people is really suffering and dying...
"Enjoy the aperitivo and carbonaravirus!"
how old are you? Twelve? Eleven? What a shame...

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Express Post on Mar 24, 2020 8:01:23 GMT 1, Just to be clear, you are cool with the racial attacks against east asians?? Disgraceful.
Which part of Ai Weiwei's post jokes about death? It only spoke about the spread. You came on here alleging that jokes are being made about the deaths. Back it up with proof, otherwise stop being stupid.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by jimmyjam on Mar 24, 2020 8:16:40 GMT 1, People shouldnโt be mistreating Asians because of the Coronavirus or for any reasons and Ai Weiwei, of all people, should not be making fun of Italy right now either. Two wrong donโt make a right. After this I definitely have a different opinion about him. Really disappointed seeing how much of an ass heโs being right now.
Ai Weiwei wouldnโt dare try and do this the US. Americans will take his shit a burn it in a second. He relies on American money too much to even try.

Making fun of a country and telling the truth are not the same. The virus did come from China but the chaos we are heading into will be Our own fault. We did nothing to contain this until the time to contain it was long gone.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by mw on Mar 24, 2020 8:47:31 GMT 1, Once the antibody test is live and in mass production, don't see why the whole population can't be tested. I think it will be necessary in order to formulate a response when the next wave comes. If they know that 70% of the population is immune then the response doesn't need to be so severe, but if it's 20% then they will crack down again. Obviously could take quite a while. all conflicting evidence at the moment , herd immunity even government advisers say may not work , few reports of people infected and recovered to then be reinfected and die , some people virus lays dormant but they are now spreading the virus unbeknown to them. in different parts of the world the virus is already mutating , so not dealing with the same strain , maybe why taking so long to research as world data would be different.? virus is not textbook hence taking so long to research it
This is a coronavirus, as are all the common colds, SARS, MERS etc. There may be the odd anomaly of someone being re infected but C19 is behaving like all other coronaviruses in that once you've had it, that's it.
Two strains have been identified in China. It is thought the mutation happened very early on and the second strain, which is much more transmittable, is what is spreading. No other mutation has been identified.
Plenty of people are carrying the virus without symptoms (lucky them and why we should be isolating) but like with people who show symptoms, this will be for a finite time.
The research is taking a long time because it takes a long time to research a virus, this one is no different, however you can be pretty sure that all hands are on deck with this one.

"We are going to be strict and inflexible when dealing with the way old people are treated in these residences," Defence Minister Margarita Robles said in an interview with television channel Telecinco.
"The army, during certain visits, found some old people completely abandoned, sometimes even dead in their beds," she added.
