Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Graham H on Mar 29, 2020 16:49:22 GMT 1, Must say im browsing this forum less due to this thread and its continued filling up with the bad news this is causing.. I wanted to come on here for some light relief in difficult times.
Im in no way saying we ignore whats happening and hope it will all go away, but its now becoming all consuming wherever I look..
Its hard to find any sanctuary for the things I enjoy

What better way to vent your anger with the state of the country/world than sit on your sofa and vent on an art forum.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by mojo on Mar 29, 2020 17:16:59 GMT 1, Definition of a vanity project.... Vanity Projects (or Vanity Productions) are those creative works that are ostensibly showcases for someone's talents as an actor, director, writer, singer, and/or composer but fail miserably to achieve their goal. The usual image associated with a Vanity Project is of a severely untalented performer with an out-of-control ego... vanity. › used to describe something that is done with the aim of getting praise, fame, or approval rather than for serious or good reasons: The new bridge was quickly condemned as a "pointless vanity project", intended to enhance the reputation of the mayor. Thanks but I already knew what the term 'vanity project' means. I still don't see how sending a letter about the coronavirus to every household can be construed as a vanity project. You yourself are evidence that he will not get "praise, fame or approval" for doing it. Then why do it? He's just overloading the postal service and as it has already been mentioned there is nothing in the letter that hasn't already been said or published.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by jimmyjam on Mar 29, 2020 19:53:11 GMT 1, “In 2018, the volume of both dealer and gallery and auction sales increased, pushing global sales volumes up to a total of 6% to $67.7 billion that year. In 2019, global sales in the gallery and dealer sector were estimated to be $36.8 billion, growing just over 2% year on year, but sales in the global auction market slumped 17% over the same time period.“
Forbes: www.forbes.com/sites/kathryntully/2020/03/05/global-art-sales-fell-in-2019-but-us-remains-top-market/#475f3a0641c2
Be interesting to see how this all plays out this year.

Johnson has completely missed the point and is out of touch with the people on this. There is no new or usable information in this letter that people do not allready know about.
We all know that this pandemic can overwhelm the health service if not dealt with properly. We also know that government advice has been all over the place instead of being direct.
The letter is a waste of money and instead put a downloadable letter if Boris has to on the downing street website;
Also a downloadable document on the gov website which is printable giving the reasons allowing people to go outside the home and where people can check a box and carry it with them signed with their name address to show police if the are stopped. It won't do a lot but will make people think about why they are not isolating.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by moron on Mar 29, 2020 20:51:48 GMT 1, Anyone here following Nick Walkers instagram? I told him to stop using the internet twice already, but he is not listening to me... Just goes to show how out of touch with reality "right on" urban artists can be.
David Icke FFS. Surely Walker is joking?
Maybe not.
Icke is a liar and a con man and he likes his charlie.

The downloadable document will create a paper trail for people who have already been out once that day. And create a set of data indicating which are truly the key locations people need to visit so that better preparations can be made for making sure the most in demand places are being properly cleaned, staffed, etc.
Also, how about we give that £5m for the letters to the NHS staff as a bonus

Only takes the actions of a few to be selfish to cause more infections and cause greater government restrictions that may be imposed depending on the publics actions adhering to advice given. Presently not looking good . Around the world looks like only a month of lockdowns until some people start having breakdowns and gearing towards mass demonstrations
If this continues the government can use as evidence to put in more cctv tracking software that China and South Korea uses
