Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by Dive Jedi on Mar 31, 2020 22:15:54 GMT 1, I first met the bitter, deeply unpopular belligerent arsehole Nick Walker around 2004. How wrong I now find I was to have thought that he, or indeed anyone, could ever be a bigger cรผnt. Yes, but please, donโt say c**tas if it was something bad. It isnโt. C#nt can be good. Can also be bad.
Same with @$$. I found a Nordic Star to explain.

Yeah i get it, to be one or have one. But still, i really dislike it, it is used as a bad word, because itโs not valued, simples.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by pellets on Mar 31, 2020 22:33:33 GMT 1, Belgian and Holland seem to be getting it pretty bad, their death per population rate is triple ours at the moment. Higher rate of smokers have a link ? Was discussed earlier in the thread but no factual research found yet
Here is the commentary on the impact of smoking, its significant. STOP SMOKING.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by pellets on Mar 31, 2020 22:37:39 GMT 1, Today's death count may seem high, but if you put it in the context of the last few days...... friday-260, saturday-209, sunday-180, monday 381. The average is 207 and the spike could be explained by less testing at the weekend, so a sunday death might get put in the monday figure. Hope I'm not proved wrong by a large number tomorrow.
There was a true up of the numbers today with additional data from ONS. This will be s recurring theme so we should be using the trend over a number of days like you indicated, rather than a specific day

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by pellets on Mar 31, 2020 22:46:32 GMT 1, Gonna need a source for this please www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/there is another site I will post when I find againย incubation periods up to 28days , study death charts , and how they are multiplying , also reported by scientists from each country deaths from covid 19 are under reportedย The data is not reported accurately and all countries have different criteria in recording figures so all a bit misleading .. the figures are probably a lot higher than being released hence all the precautions governments have taken as they are aware of the true nature of the pandemicย everyone that keeps comparing numbers of death to flu ? Have we shut down countries in recent times for flu? this is going to be a long term pandemic . revisit in Julyย
I disagree with you that the government is intentionally holding back data on the severity of the issue. Why implement a nationwide lockdown and then hope that the โless bad dataโ you released will be sufficiently scary to get people to comply without making them panic. Thats an impossible calculation to make. Plus the fact that this happening in every country makes me think it would be too hard to have a cover up.
Whats the quote? โNever attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetenceโ?

Not a cover up , governments just withhold information for national security ,if news was released on a greater scale not every can handle what is happening , there are already numerous suicides because of this outbreak not being reported by the main news, every country had been incompetent with carrying out testing and using other countries data to predict outbreak with computer modelling not testing and tracking what is actually occurring in their countries greater picture in a few months and again 4 years down the line after a public enquiry is held . London tube bombings example , no official news release until 4-5 hours after the event , restrictions put in place to manage the public , not everyone is calm and reasonable in events like these .

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by tab1 on Apr 1, 2020 0:06:44 GMT 1, If you track how long the testing kits take to get up to numbers to test a whole population , this will be similar timescales for the vaccine to be put into production once all tests are completed as unlike flu the entire nation will have to have the vaccine . already stated by the government 1-2 years of development of vaccine then the time scale to produce enough for the entire nation , then take into account every nation will need the same raw products so the supply chain will become congested

From a past document 50 % of population would be infected and 20000-750000 the government have quoted could die from a pandemic

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by nobokov on Apr 1, 2020 5:43:28 GMT 1, Seems inappropriate these days to talk about anything but the virus. Now when I see art collectors sharing pics on IG of their belongings and threads talking about worthless posters and mats, it just seems wrong. How ridiculous this whole hobby was in the grand scheme of life and how much money and time was wasted in the pursuit of material. I agree and disagree somewhat. I feel like that clearly there is a LOT more going on in the world right now and we should be thinking about how to help. People are dying. Itโs awful. But, this is an art forum. And people have different ways of coping. Considering the majority of us are on lockdown going stir crazy, talking about things you love is constructive. As some have said in this same thread, itโs hard to watch on the news, itโs hard to read about and it scaring a lot of people. If youโre one of the scared people that need an escape, thatโs what hobbies are about. Theyโre an escape into something you love. I feel like this forum allows both the folks who want to talk about c-19 and for those want to talk about just art a place to do that. Constructively. Art also expresses who we are, in all ways. And Iโve seen that happening often right now. I enjoy it. Saw that FAKE sold his nurse jam for a few thousand for charity. Mrs banksy doing the same selling her stuff to feed the hungry. So I donโt disagree that bragging about ur stuff is in bad taste right now, but one persons brag is another persons sharing. Showing how they self express through their art. As art is self expression, both for the artist and collector. I think everyone is on pins and needles right now and trying to find their own ways to cope. Some do it by discussing the times, others by discussing their hobbies. It's interesting, one positive thing about this whole situation is that it highlights how vulnerable and alike we all are. The entire world is having a shared trauma. It feels like this would be the opportune time for the entire world's population to get together and talk about changing the entire system for humans as a whole. Because, it's clearly not working. Government after government has shown themselves to be rather useless and ineffective. Is there was a way we could all exist without borders and needing to rely on fiat money?

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by lorraballs on Apr 1, 2020 7:20:15 GMT 1, Nordy, donโt fret. Language is about nuance. Cu nt has many meanings - some good, some bad, some just to fill a gap (no pun intended) Yeah i get it, to be one or have one. But still, i really dislike it, it is used as a bad word, because itโs not valued, simples. Most words have multiple applications, especially in English. And English has more words for a single thing than pretty much any other language due to Latin and Germanic influence. Most parts of the genitals of both men and women are used as insults is English - cunt, cock, dick, pussy, t**t, pisssflaps, bellend, helmet, ballsack, ball bag scrotum, and then moving backward a little bit, arsehole, ring piece, and then combing the excreta - pissface,s**t face, jizzface etc. Some might argue that the โfront bottomโ is treated less badly than the โgentlemanโs areaโ as clitoris is rarely used as a term of abuse (something, something, difficult to find, something) I was chatting to a friend who was Swedish about swear words. She said that, other than โfittaโ most swear words in Swedish were more Devil related, than genital. Donโt know about that but I though it was an interesting thought. And, again, all language is about context and nuance. Often these words are used affectionately. I call my dog โa massive bellendโ. Doesnโt mean I donโt love him. Donโt get hung up on the โsoundโ. Itโs the way it is applied that needs to be confronted...

Oddly enough many swear words in Holland are based on diseases. "Teringlijer" means TBC patient. Typhoid also used a lot. Plague is not. Most rude is the use of cancer, which is obviously very painful for many.
To get (slightly) back on topic ; we might have a new swearword soon : Corona lijerโฆ..

I hope there will come a day when I can say to my grandchildren, can you belive, still in year 2020 people defended their right to use the woman's gender as a degrading word. Peace out may the power of the cunt be with you.
Yeah i get it, to be one or have one. But still, i really dislike it, it is used as a bad word, because itโs not valued, simples. Most words have multiple applications, especially in English. And English has more words for a single thing than pretty much any other language due to Latin and Germanic influence. Most parts of the genitals of both men and women are used as insults is English - cunt, cock, dick, pussy, t**t, pi sssflaps, bellend, helmet, ballsack, ball bag ย scrotum, and then moving backward a little bit, arsehole, ring piece, and then combing the excreta - pissface,s**t face, jizzface etc. Very thorough, are you working towards your PhD in the Flu? ๐
Its interesting and thanks for highlighting specific references. I think their view of the vaccine timeline sounds so optimistic because it is an update to an existing vaccine rather than the development of a new vaccine for a novel virus strain.

Corona Virus effect on the art market?, by mw on Apr 1, 2020 10:33:44 GMT 1, Just seen my neighbour, who came down with symptoms on monday, going out for a bike ride. After an initial thought of how selfish this was i re-checked the government advice:
Do not leave your home if you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) or live with someone who does.
This is called self-isolation.
If you are self-isolating, you must:
not leave your home for any reason, other than to exercise once a day โ but stay at least 2 metres (3 steps) away from other people not go out to buy food or collect medicine โ order them by phone or online, or ask someone else to drop them off at your home not have visitors, such as friends and family, in your home You can use your garden, if you have one.
www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-advice/
So, even if you have Covid19 the government says you are allowed out to exercise.
