Documenting your artwork..., by John The Badgers on Mar 4, 2020 19:47:35 GMT 1, Hoping I can get some help and advice on this?
I have accumulated a few bits now, not of huge value, but would like to have a record of what I have with a picture, brief description, approximate value etc, which then forma a 'document'.
I want to do this so that I have something for any future insurance claims, and I also I want to be able to send this 'document' to someone in case something happens to me. A record if you like of what I have.
The issue I have is that I'm not the sharpest with tech/computers, so want something nice and simple. I don't have a Smart Phone, so apps are out, but I have my lap top, and a digital camera I can get the pictures from.
Can any members suggest the best method? Is it Excel/Word/PowerPoint, all of which I have basic knowledge, so the advice I'm after is the easiest route to achieve the above?
Really appreciate any advice or help given.

Really appreciate any advice or help given. I use Excel. Quite simple, but very useful and effective. Very, very glad I started doing this in 2015.... since I'm almost at purchase # 1000. And it would have been impossible to guess where I would be now…..
You can make a page for each artist. Date - Title - Print/OG - COA Y/N - purchase price - shipping - number of pieces - total - Sold for - Profit/loss - investment until date
And make a overview page with all artists together for a total overview.
I can tell you…. it adds up.
PS : Glad to see I'm not the only one here who doesn't own a smart Phone LOL ! ! !

Documenting your artwork..., by John The Badgers on Mar 4, 2020 20:06:49 GMT 1, Nice one everyone.
DiveJedi, with regards to Excel, are you then able to e-mail this OK? If you stick a load of pictures on it, wont this lead to issues? File size etc?
Glad I'm not the only one on the Smart phone front, its the future I tell you!
Hope all good with you.

I don't attach photos into the Excel sheet. I have a separate file with photos on my laptop - also with a separate file per artist.
Nokia 6500 rules !!

Documenting your artwork..., by jtk on Mar 4, 2020 20:43:24 GMT 1, There are a number of home/contents insurance apps that can do this. I started using one called HomeContent, which allows me to take a photo of items and input any additional details for each piece (price, description, etc.). You can also print out the report. It's very simple to use!

Thank you jtk, really appreciate the input.
Can I use this on a lap top? I'm after ending up with a 'document', that I can say attach to an e-mail, and then send to someone. Would your suggestion still work?
