Print conditions from POW, by bobbymeachamjr on Jun 12, 2007 14:18:44 GMT 1, Do people not get bothered by nicks/small dents etc on the edges of their prints - due to the poor shipping methods of POW? Ive ordered over 20 prints and 3/4 arrives in a condition that is different (worse) than when they originally ship. I mean is this just expected? The little imperfections are the headaches for me - I dont know (or sometimes its not worth the 35 usd return postage) if this is just the norm. Well the latest was the $715 usd Insect POW logo on hologram paper. Beauty but theres 2 small dings to one edge.
1. Ding is from shipping as theres no buffer for the edges hitting the tube ends 2. Why was this relatively small print not shipped flat?
They're shipping these prints out as if they're $20 prints...

Print conditions from POW, by corblimeylimey on Jun 12, 2007 14:33:55 GMT 1, You'd have thought the extra expense and trouble of better packaging would pay off for them in the long run, with the amounts of replacements and refunds they have to give.
I've received 5 prints from POW only one was damaged.

Print conditions from POW, by slowmo on Jun 12, 2007 14:38:03 GMT 1, Its a shame, never happened to me, but the more places I buy things from the more I realise how tight POW are with packaging. Other criteria had lovely sponge rounded bits at either end of the tube, to stop the very problem you and many others have described. Packing cost nearly the same.

Print conditions from POW, by pezlow on Jun 12, 2007 14:41:17 GMT 1, POW's service is generally very good at providing replacements and I think their packaging has got better.
Nevertheless compared to others it is still pretty poor. I think I have had to return 3 prints to POW for replacement. This has never happened with any other print I have ordered from anyone else.

Print conditions from POW, by atkuefler on Jun 12, 2007 14:51:06 GMT 1, Yeah, I never understood why they wouldn't invest a little bit into better shipping methods. It may cost them slightly more up fron, but surely would save them money in the long run. I have had to ship prints back in order to get replacements for damaged prints.

Print conditions from POW, by pezlow on Jun 12, 2007 16:35:42 GMT 1, Not really abaco. I think the tubes you use are a bit too small and that may be why you are having problems. Although my prints from you arrived in perfect condition the chances of it going wrong with a small tube is much greater.
Shipping is ok if you:
a) Use a big tube b) Wrap the print up in lots of tissue paper c) put tissue paper or bubble wrap at each end of the tube in order to stop it bumping around in transit.

Print conditions from POW, by Run Pig Run on Jun 12, 2007 16:52:07 GMT 1, Recently I went on holiday came back to a print I had ordered from POW it was filthy on the back with at least 25 black finger prints the front was fine apart from the print being misaligned and a stamp so faint I had to get a microscope to check it actually existed. no replacement and no apology, I know it was only a cheap one compared to the high prices they now charge, but £82 inc. postage is alot of money for a working man like me. I know it's all champagne and cocaine at the moment but at least they could have some sort of sympathy for the man on the street who just wants a few nice pictures on his wall.

Print conditions from POW, by hankpank on Jun 12, 2007 17:19:22 GMT 1, Another problem is that you have to pay for the return to POW yourself. I think they either should use stronger tubes + padding and tissue or pay for the return of damaged prints.

Print conditions from POW, by bobbymeachamjr on Jun 12, 2007 17:24:07 GMT 1, just received my BLU. there a 2 cm x 1 cm fold/dent along the top edge of the poster... is that bad? should i send it back?
these are the ones that Im struggling with - for me to send something back it'll cost $35 usd. Then I have to wait for another and theres no guarantee that it will be in better condition because they send it the same way! In fact it can be in worse shape. Unbelievably, this was the case w/some of the morons prints. If a tube gets crushed theres no complaint on my end sh*t happens. Sh*t that is 100% preventable is what gets me. How hard is it to pack like this link? Its always perfect when I receive a print using this SIMPLE AND STANDARD method... www.Expressobeans/wiki/index.php/Shipping_Prints

Print conditions from POW, by arcam on Jun 12, 2007 19:58:11 GMT 1, Shipping is ok if you: a) Use a big tube b) Wrap the print up in lots of tissue paper c) put tissue paper or bubble wrap at each end of the tube in order to stop it bumping around in transit. I agree. They also need to improve the quality of the tube, it seems to dent very easily. I've purchased far cheaper prints from the States and they've all arrive damaged free and the tubes dent free.
