Protecting spraypainted board from fading, by graeme on Mar 19, 2020 23:04:17 GMT 1, Just acquired a spray painted wooden piece.I'm wondering do I need to coat it in something to protect against UV fading.
I'm not going to frame it so it can't be protected behind glass, so what other options are there.
At the risk of sounding naive I was considering a thin coat of UV resistant clear varnish. The piece isn't expensive and I'm probably never going to sell so I'm not worried about depreciation or putting off any potential future buyer by my actions. I'd just like it to remain looking as fresh as it does now.

On the other hand : spraying it with clearcoat won't hurt either in this case.

Spray varnish will yellow over time. Be careful what you use and do to it if you want to keep it fresh
