Who Cares Wins, Value + Info, by lucy4 on Apr 2, 2020 21:03:30 GMT 1, Hey guys!
Looking for some more information about this piece, as I'm interested in probably selling it. I inherited it from my dad but I don't particularly like it, so I'm probably looking to pass it on.
I've been trying to research this but I don't know that much so I'm turning to you fine experts for some help! All I know is that my dad bought it over 3 years ago so it must have been from the 2014 run, right? It couldn't have been from 2018. (Was there an earlier run of this piece before 2014?) It's not signed. Does that mean it's not one of the 50 edition pieces? Or could it still be one of those? Did he release more than 50 of this piece? What would be a reasonable range to charge for this piece? If it was from the 2014 release, was the original price 1600 gbp? Should I put it up for auction? NO CLUE what to do here!
Btw, itโs in a silver frame and was framed with a navy accent mat which is why you see a dark line around.
Anyway, any help you guys could pass along would be greatly appreciated!

It should be signed but it looks like the signature and number are covered by the mat. There was not an unsigned release of this print so Iโd take it out of the frame and inspect it. As far as price Iโd guess maybe ยฃ15 conservatively.

Who Cares Wins, Value + Info, by LJCal on Apr 2, 2020 22:35:23 GMT 1, As the other member said you need to take it out of the frame. Iโve never seen an unsigned Miller so if it is unsigned it would be strange, I would contact the publisher to see if they released any prints outside the edition, you need to check itโs not a back door print. Assuming it is signed I would value at around ยฃ12k assuming no condition issues. There are plenty of collectors who will buy this but you may want to consider consigning to a decent auction house with a sensible reserve and starting bid, if you start at ยฃ7-8k at a major auction house it should fly.

Ohh ok! Thank you very much for your help and advice. Also, what is a back door print?

Ohh ok! Thank you very much for your help and advice. Also, what is a back door print? One that was sold without the knowledge or consent of artist/publisher. Certain unscrupulous printers print a few extra prints from an edition and sell on the side. Itโs not something I have seen before with HM but itโs been common with certain artists, Banksy and Invader for example. Obviously they are worth a fraction of an authorised print.

Who Cares Wins, Value + Info, by Terry Fuckwitt on Apr 2, 2020 22:48:31 GMT 1, Could the edition number and signature been trimmed off the bottom when framed? The border on these are larger at the bottom than the other sides. Sounds mad, but it's happened before.

Youโd hope no framer is stupid enough to trim the signature but I wouldnโt be surprised.

I've heard of a few occasions this has happened. Someone on here recently posted about this happening to an expensive print. urbanartassociation.com/thread/150872/framer-cut-off-artists-signature

Who Cares Wins, Value + Info, by kuni on Apr 3, 2020 2:09:59 GMT 1, Lol I was reading through this thread and got to your comment to the effect of "a framer being dumb enough to cut off the signature," and put my palm to my head. Those were my grandmother's Chagall prints that had the signature chopped off...Suffice to say that there are some extremely awful framers out there.

Who Cares Wins, Value + Info, by 0711vincent on Apr 7, 2020 8:11:23 GMT 1, Good morning , ..... any News about this print? Examined out of the frame? Exact measurements? Quality of paper checked (410 gsm Somerset tube sized paper)? Suggestion: Contact Alex Daniels- /REFLEX-Gallery in Amsterdam (www.reflexamsterdam.com) - send them these informations & additional detail-photos ....or even the print itself.... I guess they will be happy to verify it quickly & definitely. Please be aware: Just a few weeks ago a few unauthorised prints were sold on ebay.co.uk + approx. 2 years ago some on eBay.com.au - both with no market-value at all. By the way: If You'll try to sell this print & it's a fake one ....... You are violating the law (copyright infringement) - so better please be absolutely sure about what You are doing. Stay safe & healthy! I'm looking forward to hear from You
