HELP FOR FRAMING, by jonnhy91 on Apr 25, 2020 10:24:10 GMT 1, hello, I hope everything is fine. I will contact you because I would have a doubt about the framing of two Banksy posters (Walled of Palestine - Forgive us our trespassing).
- my doubt is the following, buying a frame on IKEA (wood fiber back and polystyrene front) is there a possibility that the work will be ruined?
- Does the poster have to be in contact with the back wood, or do I have to separate it with the sheet of paper in the frame?
- if i don't find a frame with a passepartout suitable for my poster on ikea, could i install the poster in contact with polystyrene?
thanks in advance for your help

HELP FOR FRAMING, by sfnyc on Apr 29, 2020 21:57:27 GMT 1, 1. I dont think their glass is UV treated 2. Never have contact between glass and artwork, even posters 3. Make sure the artwork when in position is not crushed and held in a way that leaves no mark or damage to the work 4. You want acid free mounts / back boards etc... the acidity in normal cardboard/paper will erode and discolor any works on paper over the years

HELP FOR FRAMING, by sfnyc on Apr 29, 2020 21:59:06 GMT 1, Best suggestion - take it to a framer. Depending on where you are located, members can suggest the best to use.
I d say dont just go to any framers. Lots of bad framers who dont know the basic rules and do things on the cheap. Read upon the many horror stories here. Ask for a recommendation or where your top local galleries get their works framed
