BANKSY Plates - Free For All? 🤷🏼♂️, by eyectopus on May 30, 2020 8:05:09 GMT 1, Some of items on the site are stencilled and others giclee so neither require plates.
The other prints in the auction are lithos so this is why they they used the statement to give the impression that they are produced using the same method and tools. Most of the images seen in this auction in this format were never produced officially as screenprints nevermind lithos.
There is a lot of auction houses and sellers giving false and vague information to mislead buyers. One I have seen on other auction descriptions is "purchased from the Banksy shop beside the Walled Off hotel". This is another deliberately misleading statement for fake items and one that has been used to trick buyers.

BANKSY Plates - Free For All? 🤷🏼♂️, by telecine on May 30, 2020 10:43:20 GMT 1, What do you mean by "plates"? If you mean printing plates there aren't any as all Banksy prints are screen printed.
Nailed that sucker in one !

My impression was that the gallery owner was referring to signature plates as in “plate signed” works that you see.
But that was my impression. Maybe he was referring to the entire works.
The reason I think he was stuck on the signature as he goes on to recognize if it was hand signed it would be forgery, but since it’s plate signed, in his mind, it’s not...
I also read, I believe on here, that BANKSY changed his hand signed signature or maybe even his stenciled one from his early days. I didn’t know if that had something to do with this plate thing or not, or if indeed that’s true either.

"Plate signed" only means that the signature is printed with the rest of the image and that it's not hand signed. So that Banksy "gave away a bunch of his signature plates" doesn't even makes sense. And anything remotely similar never happened. The nearest is that he hasn't pursued his copyright, which has changed a bit with GDP.

BANKSY Plates - Free For All? 🤷🏼♂️, by H.R. on Jun 1, 2020 5:03:38 GMT 1, Yeah. I have no clue about the makings of plates, stamps and digital signatures. So apparently, the gallery owner is stating BANKSY just gave out Plates to the prints of all of his old school greatest hits and anyone can make them I guess? 🤔
It fits with early BANKSY’s thoughts on copyrights and saying fuckkk the world. But, clearly not the BANKSY of today. It still doesn’t seem like something an artist would do.
Here, I spent a bunch of money to make these plates, just print up whatever you want and keep them. Print anything you want in the future too.
Doesn’t seem likely...
