Fastest growing artists: 2020, by jhavisen on Jul 5, 2020 16:30:45 GMT 1, Ok, i am bored and want to read about art, new names and crystal-ball foresights.
Inspired by a thread i saw on FB: Which artists do you think will have the biggest breakthrough / increase in popularity the coming 12 months, and why? Who do you think, will make you rich the next year? (buy art cause you like, yes, yes - but let's just dream a little) Who is in your basket?
I can start: I have fallen for Charlotte Keates. She will have a solo show this year at New York, she is young (from 1990), and already seems to be in a pretty good spot. Plus i just really dig her style. Some of her new stuff is priced at 20.000 pounds and sold, so it seems like, there are rich collectors interested in her.
Who do you guys think?

Fastest growing artists: 2020, by mose on Jul 5, 2020 21:12:02 GMT 1, Matthew Wong by the fact if the recent auction results increase in value No one will touch Wong this year and I don't think we've ever seen a price appreciation like his in history. $22k to $1.82million in 2 years. It makes things like Lucien Smith's $389k at Phillips in 2013 look like chump change.
Given his young age and very few shows before his death, there is a surprising amount of work left. Reports are that he made around 1000 works. Catalogue raisonne is already being worked on.

1000 between the international high end collectors , that can afford 10 -40 works each at today’s prices is still very little!
Really like some of his works

Fastest growing artists: 2020, by shy on Jul 6, 2020 14:11:44 GMT 1, what's out surprising to me is that Matthew Wong was a Canadian artist and Canadian art never seems to appreciate much.
For example Group of Seven art never appreciated as one would expect.

As Picasso said: "good artists borrow, great artists steal.”
When that is said I don't see many similarities between those 2 but lovely to disagree

Fastest growing artists: 2020, by Original Paper Works on Jul 6, 2020 15:09:57 GMT 1, Why would I not believe in the artist I selected?
If you do some research you will see many of them are doing great things at the moment.
All of them are having Solos at great galleries in EU & US.
KoshKosh & Hunter are not on my site but I wish there also were.
Maybe in the future

I'm sure they're doing well. I'm not surprised that people will just be naming artists in this thread they have a stake in already and protect the names they have an eye on for future acquisitions.
