Expensive Cupboard Door, by Big Bad Mo on Jul 12, 2020 23:00:26 GMT 1, As crazy as it sounds I think it’s a steal. I would much prefer that unique with provenance directly to B than the Mona Lisa recently sold or even the poison monkey. Both of which sold for much more. I think if a Koon dog can sell for $50mill then posts like these will be the norm for a long time to come with Banksy prices.

Imagine selling a B OG in the last 5 years and now living in a crap house that’s worth less - man I’d be shamed of myself.....

Entry level canvasses are now at £250k+ and trust me there ain’t much around at that level.

Imagine having to sell something you really liked and didn't want to sell just to be able to continue to afford food and to live in a 'crap' house. There is absolutely no shame in selling items of value when necessary plus there wouldn't be a 'market' if nobody ever sold anything. I imagine the initial painting on the kitchen door was done for free so whenever they sold it they would of been quids in. Not everybody is obsessed with money or is in a position to stash wealth.

I'm 90% sure if you had £300k today you couldn't find anything for sale.
There are buyers out there of PB's and Lenins paying over £300k and they're not getting filled.

Expensive Cupboard Door, by vvk on Jul 15, 2020 2:37:32 GMT 1, you mention original, but they say of a edition of 25? i understand that each will be unique as they are spray painted and might have a few touches here and there. but does that make it a original if they are 25 or 23 plus 2 silver canvas? not trying to knock , just trying to understand the process an terminology more.

The way I would classify an original is that it's painted, etc by hand, so would agree it's an original work, even if from an edition as oppose to a unique original which is a true 1 of 1. Just my two cents.

Thanks. Are these pieces painted or “spray” painted with a stencil technique? It seems if there were stenciled, they would be part of a edition. With the rat , They are printed ( with a screen stencil) then hand smugged so each one is unique. But they are part of a edition of 150? Is it the “canvas’. Which makes them original?

Expensive Cupboard Door, by JJN on Jul 15, 2020 4:42:57 GMT 1, They made originally by hand with paint ( not necessarily canvas can be card, wood, cardboard & metal etc as well) they are not a reproduction ( Print ).
There are
Originals from an Edition - number of edition normally 15 or 25 Originals from a Series - unknown number normally different mediums and slightly different images Unique Originals - 1 of 1
There are 100s of Warhol Marilyns ( much more than GWRB or Flower Thrower ) and they range from 10-50mln currently depending size, colour etc... ( small: 35 x 27 cm). Reversal ( photo Negative style) Series bit cheaper
That's where we going to be in future IMO, but I am biased.
