Herakut in their prime were egged on by dealers to pump out a lot of works on cardboard. They were light, easy to ship but cardboard degrades more quickly than higher gsm paper.
Long term you might have issues if the conservation points are not dealt with from the get go.
 Hey, any Julio Cabanda fans here? An emerging spanish artist, who makes fine paintings on cardboard. He is having a solo show from the 24th of July in Spain, Marbella. If anyone is going please share some pictures. What do you guys think of his work?

Yes. He does
his studio pieces are painted on found cardboard which was primed through a custom developed process making it rigid and time resistant.

It is really well conserved. He treats it with latex. 4 or 5 layers on each side, then he paints and uses a barnish spray after that

The ones I've seen that look the best to me are the ones, where they're torn around the image so there's not so much cardboard color.

I am excited to see, if Julio really can make it big - and make me sad, i did not get one - or if his work will be too one dimensional to really blow up
