Auctions, by nms666 on Jul 22, 2020 22:14:06 GMT 1, Hi All,
Does anyone have any positive/negative feedback about the 'online' auctioneers [Artnet/Forum etc] versus Old Skool Auction Houses?
Bonhams seems to be getting The Big Bucks these days, but I've not sold at auction before, and am unsure of the pros/cons of an online versus Bricks & Mortar auction house.
Any thoughts much appreciated...

Auctions, by Spenie on Jul 23, 2020 12:21:33 GMT 1, When I enquired at Bonhams the charges seemed pretty high , not sure if they have changed though it was a couple of years back:
Commission 15% on the first £15,000, 10% thereafter Insurance 1.5% of the hammer price, or 1.5% of the mid-estimate if unsold Illustration fee £150 (includes catalogue and website) 20% VAT is payable on these charges

What was the outcome with all those Hambleton fakes ?
Wasn’t it someone on here who was trying to promote them ?
You know when the likes of Maddox are trying to push stuff like that there is something very wrong.

No outcome, the seller Wearology told me he got his money back for them, his sales thread disappeared
I will bump the pictures in the thread I put up so you can see some of the fakes
He purchased them from the biggest Hambleton collector in the world.
So this collector had purchased at least 10 fakes, bet he feels a right STIK now

Auctions, by als33 on Jul 29, 2020 19:33:09 GMT 1, I recently sold a couple (non-art) things at Christie's and was really pleased with the experience. The seller's fees were:
15% up to $15,000 10% up to $75,000 5% up to $350,000 3% over $350,000
Plus an additional 2% if it hammered at or above the high estimate. No other fees. Very easy to deal with and paid out within 30 days

That sounds like someone and something you want to stay well away from.
