Just saying, it makes it seem like there are only 5 of these things out there at first glance.

Print - Framed , by daveart on Dec 29, 2020 22:55:31 GMT 1, going to agree with mikegood on this .. the add should show the full edition .. ie. if you will accept Phillips as a resource:
KAWS Man's Best Friend each signed, numbered and dated "75/100 KAWS 16" lower edge The complete set of 10 screenprints in black and white, on Saunders Waterford High White paper, the full sheets, with title page, loose (as issued) contained in the original grey fabric-covered portfolio with printed title each sheet 35 x 23 in. (89 x 58.5 cm.) portfolio 36 3/4 x 24 5/8 in. (93.3 x 62.5 cm.) Executed in 2016, this work is number 75 from an edition of 100 plus 20 artist's proofs, published by Pace Prints, New York
if the printers proof is a different color - or a unique - haring and warhol spring to mind where you can find PP that are differnt colors than the original run and those definitely have higher collector value. if its exactly the same (which this appear to be) - i would opine that listing the full edition with AP/ PP numbers would be more correct. buyer has to do their homework either way. a picture of the signature and numbering and any information on whether it is unique or simply part of the run would be important to me if i were buying. its a forum. dont worry about input. certainly doesnt warrant being called an idiot - basically why a lot of good people give up on this place.

Print - Framed , by daveart on Dec 30, 2020 4:37:27 GMT 1, A printers proof and and the 20 AP sets are completely different things. This print was never part of a complete set.
fair enough. id still be interested to know if it was the exact same print as the edition and AP .. or if in fact there was something unique and interesting about the PP. that's all i'm saying. if they made 130 of them at the same time. numbered some AP some and PP some but they are all the exact same and they just thought 'hey.. lets sell these left overs as PP' that's not very exciting. if they are different.. ok .. totally cool to have an edition of 5 different from the others.

PP's are gifts to the printers who actually worked on the pieces. They would get a full set. It's a process, PP > AP > Regular Edition, approved each step of the way. I doubt there is much difference between the actual prints (not like the old days), however I support it being part of an edition of 5. Some people don't add value to these, some do. They are believed to be works closer to the artist, handled and reviewed and scrutinized whereas the regular edition just pumped out and signed.

Print - Framed , by mint on Jan 18, 2021 20:47:53 GMT 1, Printers proofs are replacement prints that are made for anything that gets damaged during the shipping process. Anything that's not used as a replacement is then designated as a printers proof. That's why you rarely see them mentioned with an edition size and artist proofs, which are actually gifts of a certain quantity that the artist retains. Nah. They aren't the prints to cover damages. They are signed and numbered at the same time as the rest of the edition.
Printer Proofs are small in edition and given as a gift to the publisher and their crew. They are rarely seen or mentioned because they don't come up for sale often.
