Advice..All you Gurus..Buying my first signed Haring from Ga, by needfoolthings on Aug 6, 2020 10:01:37 GMT 1, Hello all you art gurus and gurrettes.. I am looking at buying an image from Pop shop 1 1987 (signed) but it DOES NOT have the Martin Lawrence paperwork accompanying it anymore I am told.
The gallery says they back it up 100% with exchange trade up etc and will give me at the very least a gallery cert which I don't exactly know if thats a stupid play.
I can also get at around the same price another Pop Shop 3 (signed) with the Martin Lawrence paperwork which makes me feel better but I like the 1987 more and its a more desirable image to me.
I do eventually plan to resell as it is a n investment I can enjoy, Should I just go for the one with the paperwork that checks out from 1989 to be in line with the Martin Lawrence certs of the time?
Making my choice tomorrow and don't want to drop the ball. I wish it was as easy as buying a Banksy with PC.. ugh.
I appreciate you all!

Advice..All you Gurus..Buying my first signed Haring from Ga, by South Bound on Aug 6, 2020 13:25:39 GMT 1, Iโve always had positive interactions with MLG and have no reason to doubt them, but I would always go for the one with paperwork, in the long run it will save you a headache.

Advice..All you Gurus..Buying my first signed Haring from Ga, by startimeash on Aug 6, 2020 14:00:47 GMT 1, Would always go for paperwork. I have a couple of Sir William Russell Flint drawings that are studio stamped but without paperwork, and have had hassle even getting them valued properly, let alone if I came to sell them! My 2p, for the little it's worth - if you like the image, and are going to keep it until you die, go for the one you like and let the executors of your will have the grief. If you're going to sell at some point yourself, which it sounds like you are, then make it easy so that future you doesn't have to jump through hoops to get your money.

Totally agree, you knows what will happen in the future so i would suggest the piece with all correct paperwork
This will be easier and quicker to resale in the future as it has ML docs

Advice..All you Gurus..Buying my first signed Haring from Ga, by LJCal on Aug 6, 2020 22:47:13 GMT 1, The paperwork will help the provenance and add some value but quite a few Harings sell without paperwork, the major auction houses do not require the original paper work and are happy to authenticate internally before offering out. Quite a few of the pop shop prints are sold in the Martin Lawrence frame which has a label on the back, so ask for high res photos of the print and frame (front and rear) and Iโd be happy to take a look as Iโve handled quite a few of the series and have a couple here for comparison. Gallart are a legit outfit but I believe most of their works are on consignment, Iโm not sure if they even hold them, so this may mean they could unknowingly sell a fake. They do have some substance as a business so the guarantee has some value however enforcing it from outside the US in the event of a dispute would be difficult.
Ultimately it would be down to the numbers for me which one I went for assuming I was confident the print Gallart are offering is legit.
