Christie's Art Auctions , by Graham H on Mar 19, 2020 11:05:10 GMT 1, The result was a ridiculous figure for an un coa'd gift print.. irrespective of provenance... Bidders either must have missed the COA fact or have deep pockets and no sense
Just an opinion of course
£80k for a gift print with no PC COA?..really? I didn’t realise this didn’t have a coa, given the provenance I don’t think it would have hurt the value that bad but would have definitely held it back a little. I did say £80k all in and it sold for about £72k all in so not a million miles off.

Sweet image with universal appeal — one that speaks to everybody. At 214 x 152 cm, it's also an imposing statement piece.
If my home were decorated with a massive painting of two stickmen frigging each other off, I'd surely spend less time accessing niche-proclivity websites.

Price wise, yes his art has shot up over the last 12 months It is the hype around it that I just do not get - £156K is insane money for that canvas. And lets be honest it is not even one of his better pieces. Some people spend silly money on pieces. Take this Basquiat print the other day, while I love Basquiat this was crazy in my eyes. Yes it was a HC edition of 15 but still silly money for one of these

That needed to be reeled in Was getting way out of control New artists releasing editions of 300-500 at up to £1000? A big headache for people that bought into these sales ? And people are still buying ? Must be the people that do not follow the news?

I own a banksquait and with the Unknown’s ahead I would not buy any secondary until the market is settled . It is all too easy to get caught up in the hype . On a smaller scale as seen in the pejac letter and the vault sales . Some people are not looking at the bigger picture With the state of the economy to come which will have an effect on all markets , most people are still comparing prices in normal times which agree with prices quoted

If your quoting the price for basquait from the link above , read the sales description again , it was printed in 2016 take away the mere and question mark from your quote and I agree with you

Christie's Art Auctions , by Poster Bob on May 17, 2020 12:27:38 GMT 1, All Stik canvases are still significantly undervalued. They should be about £150k minimum regardless of size. But, as we saw with the Banksy market, it can take a few years for the prices of prints and canvases to truly separate.
