The reverse is key I think
You can see the ink has raised the paper
I don't think there have been any fakes that have the reverse detail
Happy to be corrected

Surely they’re quite tricky to fake? They’re screen printed on basically newspaper. Would it be easy ?

One hardly . Both see through Mine both have a straight edge on all sides . Have any got slightly ripped edges ? There are a lot with skinny sticky tape tear Funny thing is, when I got prints home I thought I'd leave the tape on as some sort of proof of provenance. 2 or 3 days in I started to worry that they'd damage the print long term and that I'd never be able to remove without ripping the paper. So I ended up removing all the tape! to be fair, quite easy to 'fake' that part.
I would say the prints are pretty hard to copy PROPERLY as others have suggested prior.

I disagree
I think it is a given
If it isn't risen its a fake

How to spot a real GDP rat , by Gurn on Aug 22, 2020 17:59:50 GMT 1, I would imagine that they are pretty difficult to fake. However, the problem arises when someone who has never seen a legit one has nothing to compare a purchase to. There are many subtle nuances to the GDP Rat...The paper, the ink, the size, the reverse..even one or two splats. If I was buying one now I'd hope that the seller would be open to letting me see it alongside one I knew was 100% genuine.

people paying big money for items without pest control COA should really think hard about it. you're really only buying it for yourself, in every sense of the word(s), since you will almost definitely not be able to prove it's real later on. or maybe even at the time.
my rule is buy at source or buy with pest control COA, otherwise assume it is fake. i make some exceptions for long-time forum members.

The longer time goes on past the date of the show the higher the probability that you may be buying a fake.

How to spot a real GDP rat , by avec art on Aug 22, 2020 21:26:27 GMT 1, the paper is easy to get, I use it often. Screen printing a black design on it will raise the back like that - the moisture and subsequent drying does it.
Where you lose quality is the scanning of the initial print. You'd have a difficult time getting all of the fine detail. They made the initial design straight to an acetate, so it has authentically captured all the spray, and has then been deliberately smudged with a finger or some implement while still wet.

Is this fact, or your pro opinion? While i believe the clocks were "smugged" im not so sure about the Handout rat print on newsprint. I don't believe it was painted directly on on acetate either, it think it was exported from procreate and then printed on film. but then again, i didnt get much sleep so im not thinking straight.
and just so my message does not get taken the wrong way, I mean no offense to you nor any disrespect. Im asking as you mentioned that you do this type of stuff, and i am curious. thanks

How to spot a real GDP rat , by avec art on Aug 22, 2020 22:05:27 GMT 1, yes the design of the rat itself on the handouts has scratching/smudging into the ink. It looks like it's been done with a brush. If someone pulls it up you can see.
Also it was GDP which said they were sprayed straight to acetate, which is consistent with its appearance. But it's perfectly possible to use acetate or film as you say.
The rats of the clock have an extra grey ink wash which I believe is like what we'd usually call hand finishing.

How to spot a real GDP rat , by Happy Shopper on Aug 23, 2020 19:51:52 GMT 1, I’d assume the fakes are large photocopies, not screen printed. So they’d look pretty good in pictures, but nothing like the real thing in reality. Screen printed fakes I’d expect to lose a lot of detail, and be easy to spot... like WCP fakes.
