Long time no see! Not been on here for quite a long time for various reasons.
Anyhow; recently picked up a Beastie Boys print from 1XRun for $200 plus postage. Turned up yesterday and the quality is shocking!
Badly printed - pretty much laserjet - and the print is spotted and scratched, which due to the poor quality print job really shows up the slightest blemish.
I've bought off Run before now but not for several years, and the quality always used to be good.
Have they gone to shit in my absense?!?! Emailed them, no response.
Interesting to hear if anyone else has bad experiences with them.

It's funny that you say that you bought before and the quality was good. I've bought two prints from them about 4 or 5 years ago and the quality was poor then. That was enough for me not to buy again from them.

Coupled with the stupid shipping prices to the U.K., they’re not somewhere that I’d actively seek to buy from again. That is a really poor print job even by the standards of the bad ones I’ve had!

It's a print of a 30 year old photo, the defects are most likely from the original image. No, its laser printed on art paper, at least some of the marks are where the print has had ink scratched off. I've had my work printed on similar quality paper and this is what happens; if it was on photo paper it would seal better. It might frame up OK as it's a present for someone, but to the naked eye the faults are glaring. |

Maybe they're nice people, but I wouldn't say they always engage in the best selling practices.

I took off the notifications and newsletter ...

The registration on the screen prints I had were terrible. It was like a college kid had knocked them out. I should take your advice and unsubscribe to save the hassle of deleting the emails every week.

For every critic of 1xrun, there is another for how galleries handle things... I'd rather deal with 1xrun than tiered pricing. Also good to deal with and their screenprints are always good from the ones I've bought... Ben frost, Denial, Slick, and others.
I've had an email back off them saying they'll send a replacement, which is great customer service.

Yeah that was my beef; when I've had screens off them before they're been good to great quality, hence me being a little surprised by this print. "Upon taking a second look at our replacement print, we have decided to refund you for your order instead. These editions have a matte black finish and they all have some slight scuff mark or another."
Lovely gesture from them, allowing me to keep the print as well. Also glad to know I was right about the print finish and not being picky.
Should have done them as photo prints, only cost a few $ more.
There's a film title in there, I'm sure of it...?
