The boat had 219 people on it at one point. How many of those may not have survived without itโs intervention?
Even if thatโs all it ever does then itโs far from money wasted.

By having the banksy boat it may have increased deaths
Migrants would be of the assumption that they will Be intercepted by the banksy boat As this would have been spread by the Successful rescued migrants , The boats current position may not be known to the migrants ?
so potentially more people could be making the crossing assuming they will be rescued by the banksy boat
Wasted money as all countries involved are against the migrant crossings and the money spent on the boat could of benefited other charities in the form of clothing and food which many that are successful on the crossing need and at present the boat is idle Good intentions but wasted in my view If sold now after only one rescue think may create negative press

Iโve not had chance to read the attached 500page report but Im struggling to believe that people (Migrant some how dehumanises it) would have made a decision to risk their own life and that of their families based on the Banksy boat. I also struggle to believe that team Banksy didnโt do their homework regarding what would and wouldnโt be of use. Iโve no doubt that they spoke with lots of people/agencies on the front line beforehand.

Migrants are in a desperate situation. I donโt feel they would be making a decision to go to sea just because Banksy has a boat out there to rescue them. I bet most migrants donโt know how big the problem is and likely donโt know just how risky it is.

JUST REPORTED...
The Louise Michel rescued 31 people from a drifting wooden boat in worsening weather. Another 65-70 people have been holding out all night on the Shell oil platform Miskar onto which they climbed. Maltese authorities were informed and asked to coordinate repeatedly!
The remaining 65-70 people have been on the Shell platform Miska for over 14 hrs and are in desperate need of a safe place. The platform lies within a European SAR zone but refuses to communicate with the responsible Maltese authorities.
A Tunisian warship arrived on site. We fear that the remaining people on the Shell platform will be pulled back illegally to Tunisia, which is not a safe county. Malta must take over the coordination + shell mustnโt be complicit in this human rights violation
please stay aware

Published by Ben Cowles
"Banksy-funded rescue ship Louise Michel carries 31 refugees as Tunisian Navy sends 70 to its โunsafeโ country
EUROPEAN maritime authorities and fossil fuel giant Shell were accused of complicity in the sending of about 70 refugees to an unsafe country today.
Civilian rescuers on board the Louise Michel, a rescue ship part-funded by the elusive British artist Banksy, saved the lives of about 101 people within Maltaโs search-and-rescue (SAR) zone in the central Mediterranean on Monday night.
It was the Seabird, a reconnaissance plane operated by rescuers Sea-Watch, that first spotted the refugees in distress, and passed their position onto the Louise Michael.
The Louise Michelโs crew managed to bring 31 refugees aboard their vessel, but the remaining 70 or so others climbed onto the nearby Miskar offshore gas platform, which Shell operates on behalf of the Tunisian government.
The Louise Michel warned on social media this morning that the refugees on the platform had been waiting there for over 14 hours and that the Maltese authorities, who are legally responsible for coordinating their rescue, were refusing to communicate.
The Tunisian navy arrived on scene later in the afternoon and took the 70 refugees from the platform to Tunisia, a move Louise Michel and many of the other NGO refugee rescuers condemned as a โpullback,โ the unlawful return of refugees to an unsafe place.
โWe witnessed an illegal pullback of around 70 people by several Tunisian Navy vessels from the Shell platform,โ a crew member aboard the Louise Michel told The Civil Fleet today.
โWe strongly condemn this violation of human rights and maritime law of which European authorities and Shell are complicit in.โ
Jacob Berkson, an activist with the distress hotline organisation Alarm Phone, described the Tunisian and Maltese authoritiesโ actions as an โegregious breachโ of the refugee conventions.
โIt is to be hoped that they [the refugees] have not been returned to the hell of Libya, but nor can Tunisia be assumed to be a safe third country. It was on Malta to rescue these people,โ Mr Berkman told The Civil Fleet today.
โIn any sane world, the Armed Forces of Malta would intervene swiftly and professionally to rescue people in distress, irrespective of why they took to sea in the first place.
โOf course, in any sane world, it would be rare that people seeking refuge needed rescuing because they would be travelling on a well maintained, commercial vessel to a country of their choice.โ
Shellโs Tunisian arm said: โ[We] can confirm that on January 3 2022 at 8pm (Tunis time), a boat carrying people reached our offshore platform. They were assisted and provided with water, food and dry clothes.
โShell had informed the Tunisian authorities and worked closely with them to ensure the safety of people on board the boat. They have since been safely transferred to the Tunisian navy vessel on January 4.โ
Over 1,100 people were rescued by civilian rescuers on three NGO ships in the central Mediterranean over the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The European authorities once again kept Doctorโs Without Bordersโ (MSF) Geo Barents, SOS Mediterraneeโs Ocean Viking, and Sea-Watchโs Sea-Watch 3 at sea for days after their crews had saved hundreds of lives.
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) announced today that over 32,400 people were intercepted at sea and returned to Libya in 2021.
MSF said the number of interceptions in the central Mediterranean last year almost tripled compared to 2020.
โ32,425 migrants, refugees and asylum seekers have been brought back to systematic extortions, violence and abuse in Libya with the complicity of EU and EU member states,โ the organisation said. ""

Is it not true to say that these people where in a safe place before entering the sea on a dodgy dingy. It's not "true" no, but it is the opinion of quite a few right-wing bigots and small minded fearful racists.
"While people on board our ship and the Aslihan are denied their basic rights to a safe place, others are being left at sea without any assistance. We call on the responsible European authorities to do their job and to launch a rescue operation immediately. Don't let them die!"

Do you support criminal gangs who traffic people including children??

There's a difference between "safe" and "free". You'd be "safe" in prison, regardless if you committed the offence or not. And no, I don't support the Tories.

"After eventful weeks, the Louise Michel is back in Spain, where our maintenance crew are busy preparing the ship for the next rescue operation. We are happy that 224 people could eventually be brought to a safe port in Europe, after four rescue operations. Also thanks to the cooperation with Sea Watch Crew. Once again we witnessed how crucial the civil fleet is, as European states brutally fight against people on the move and shamelessly ignore human rights. We saw how European authorities cooperate with armed groups from Libya, groups that are trained to violently and illegally prevent people from reaching Europe. While Europe โprotectsโ its borders in this way, the Mediterranean Sea remains one of the world's deadliest borders. This system is cruel and inhuman. It's about time that we start to protect human lives, human dignity and freedom, instead of borders."

88 people rescued from rubber boat. Early this morning MV Louise Michel was informed about many people in distress. After several hours of search and a difficult rescue, due to the fast approach of a vessel from so called Libyan coast guard, everyone is now on board.

Banksy funds Refugee Rescue boat, by moron on Oct 4, 2022 10:50:31 GMT 1, I wonder why this boat was named after a Freemason?
I wonder why this women run feminist left wing yada yada yada boat that advertises itself as being run under a flat hierachy has told male crew members that they are not allowed to talk to the press. Only women crew members are allowed to do that?

Louise Michel was a human rights activist, freedom fighter, and Freemason who embodied the Masonic ideals of Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.... not a bad naming to be fair. Always seems 'conspiracyesuqe' to those who aren't part of the just, upright, of mature age and sound judgement collective. Nudge nudge, wink wink say no more.
Maybe the MV Jimmy Saville was taken?
