Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by dukeofwybourne on Sept 17, 2021 14:33:28 GMT 1, A mixed bag - decent results for the signed Girl With Balloon and Morons.
Poor results for Choose Your Weapon, grey (why the seller agreed to the ridiculously low estimate I don't know), Love Rat, Kate (nearly 100k lower than Sotheby's earlier this year), Laugh Now.
And average for most of the others.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by 18921892 on Sept 17, 2021 14:35:45 GMT 1, are the final prices on the website with or without the fees? They include BP, but not ARR or VAT on BP. Sometimes members post the final numbers but the buyer will be paying more than the sold price.
Solid results there all the way round, not surprising really. The artist of our time.
Signed Laugh Now was low due to it being a gift dedicated print to "Brendan", who would want that print other than Brendan. The unsigned Girl With Balloon was not in good shape and horribly framed and still fetched ยฃ130k.
Trolleys ยฃ70k is great as is ยฃ120k for a Choose Your Weapon QJ.

No one's been buying overvalued banksy prints a while since the auctions got greedy with all these banksy only sales and the big cash out exodus. Dead.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by Dubman on Sept 17, 2021 15:53:22 GMT 1, Better results than expected to be fair, considering the woeful results of late, good to see appropriate corrections for some pieces (Police Kids was over ยฃ100k at the beginning of the year after being ยฃ30k in early 2020).
All commodities fluctuate and as has been shared on here no need for a 'fire sale' - the good thing is most who know are not selling anything which is keeping supply lower. If the auction houses can take a breath too and stop having auctions every 2 minutes that will also help (along with / after Love is in the bin).
Poker faces people - it will come back, always does.

thing is buyers will be reading that and basing their bids. So therefore it has condition issues.

Interesting. Iโve always worked to the metric above and all the pieces Iโve bought at Sothebyโs, Christieโs and Bonhamโs all use these multiples. What percentages comprise your 40% ?

In theory they can come after you for breach of contract and force you to pay BUT non- paying winning bidders are quite common and other than blacklisting you not a lot will happen.

Yes. Which is why you really need to take all those high results from Asia with a big pinch of salt.

Itโs nothing like that in the UK, itโs happened to me about 3 times on 200-300 lots Iโve sold.
