Sotheby's Art Auctions • LONDON 🇬🇧, by coller on Sept 9, 2020 19:22:31 GMT 1, Where do people see prices going? Its getting serious cash now and no doubt many will be thinking of maybe cashing in. Will we see similar rises in the next six months? i think it'll crash by this time next year; maybe sooner depending on certain elections and their effect on certain economies. i think the number of banksy print auctions this summer is suspicious, almost like insiders know something. and the extreme rise in prices in the last 6 months during a global health and economic crisis is curious, to say the least.
i also think this because i'm a die-hard decades-long banksy fan and collector in a financial position to buy many of these things, and even i am passing.
almost everyone on this forum will disagree. time will tell.

So they charge you 10% of the sale price, even though they've just mugged the buyer for 25%.....ffs. They're bigger sharks than estate agents and recruitment consultants put together.

What i find strange is I'm not seeing this surge in other artists, which I would have expected if invested is the reason behind it all. Could I ask if you think prices are going to crash, would now not be a good time to sell?
Which many are taking up the opportunity Whilst the artist is alive there will be many up and downs
The serious money is in the long haul When the artist is deceased , something to leave behind for the kids or grandkids 😎

i own banksys. i would never sell, especially now in case i'm wrong and i can't get my artwork back. i also don't really have any interest in "cashing out" at all, since i bought the art to keep/hang forever and am not financially strained.
i would also never buy right now. i would really never buy anything after it has increased in price 200-300% in less than a year; that almost always isn't a good idea.

I would say this is true if auctions were loaded with originals. But it’s been a bunch of prints. Virtually nothing interesting in terms of OGs and where the big money is.

Playing your game, I'll chip in with: £320k haha.

Its like Sotheby's and Christie's have copied Ebay .. ?
They also add the 10% sellers fee!
If they did a Special sell for a £1 I might consider adding a few pieces myself!
