Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by Lazarus II on Sept 19, 2019 17:57:26 GMT 1, The Strawberry Donut seems a real outlier to me compared with the Chocolate. Usually a little more, but this is strange. Both are in the Christies auction so will be interested to see if normality is restored. The strawberry seems like it was in better condition than the chocolate (chocolate had creasing and areas of skinning, on a print you'd expect to be near pristine, given it's not one of the old ones), which might account for part of the price gap. There's always been a premium on the pink, but that difference in price for the same print was insane. One very happy former strawberry owner out there.ย i heard he sold strawberry and bought a chocolate instead.

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by sbash on Sept 20, 2019 10:05:23 GMT 1, Seeing these significant jumps in value, I'm surprised no one has considered the possibility that Banksy may have even purchased all of these prints back himself..... or at least messed around with the bidding in some way or another...woooo
It's not beyond the realms of possibilities know his previous in these scenarios.
Just putting it out there :-)

Sotheby's Art Auctions โข LONDON ๐ฌ๐ง, by Deleted on Sept 20, 2019 18:22:35 GMT 1, No it's not, it has been done for years, started with Steve Lazarides, and was continued regularly by Simon Durban (till his recent demise). Why do some on this forum still believe Banksy can do no wrong, or that they are not motivated by money? It is well known that this was a practice that was regularly undertaken by Mugrabi, Gagosian and Saatchi, even Damien Hirst got involved.
You don't really believe he would bid up prints do you? Really?

Edit : To play my part on this lovely forum i would like to add to the conspiracy even more if I may; I hear he is starting a Banksy secondary art buying company called "Pissed Uncontrolled". I believe he is setting up shop as we type and looking for inventory.
