When did you buy your Banksy print/original?, by JockoLad on Aug 30, 2020 11:01:39 GMT 1, Interested to find out when people on here bought their prints/originals by Banksy. Have many held on to their purchases or have most sold on?
Please only vote if you actually have a print/original in hand.
Posters etc. do not count in this instance.

My thoughts also. If true, how have we not heard of this before now.
He did place a lot of items in a Bristol Oxfam at the time of his museum exhibition. Perhaps something to do with that? Did he not also do a Hitler painting that he gave to a charity shop in New York to sell at auction?

Yes, regarding the painting in a New York charity shop. Whether it was at the time of the museum show, thatโs asking too much of my memory!

When did you buy your Banksy print/original?, by jB on Sept 4, 2020 14:05:44 GMT 1, In 2013 I found a Happy choppers unsigned on eBay under banSKY and bought it for 2000$ which I thought was a clever find at the time. Sadly never at a thrift / charity shop. Would be interesting to hear the story if anyone indeed has found one via that route.

Brilliant find! Always worth searching eBay using misspellings. You can be sure the seller was confused why the item was getting such little attention.

Not think there is too much money invested in them now for prices to significantly drop? Personally I don't think these sudden price jumps help the market - just feels hyped. Not going down this road but man Banksy editions are in my eyes way over priced

When did you buy your Banksy print/original?, by sbash on Sept 13, 2020 22:59:13 GMT 1, Well, I'm guessing it was about 2003 not because I remember but because I've seen the receipt!! Anyway, we used to go to a little furniture shop just north of Neil Street and south of Denmark street. The shop was called Tom Tom. We bought a lovely Eames soft pad Lounge chair wt ottoman in bright Orange, (thanks to my very generous Mum!)
Well, Tom Tom started to branch out into art. And of course they had some awesome Banksy canvases in the window before to long... none of which we could afford as we had just bought a house in NEW CROSS and only had a few squid left at the weekend. Suffice to say, we popped in one Saturday and there were loads of Banksy prints in... given our impending house refurb and cash flow.. we weren't feeling flush. but we loved the art so much that we decided to buy 2x (unsigned prints) at ยฃ50 squid each. Missus picked a Laugh Now, I picked a Mary.
That, we Framed them in Ikea until 4years ago. Sent them to Graham Bignell to correct our naieve errors.
Stashed in my wardrobe since, sadly.
