I think it's a little excessive but that work is massive.

I was thinking maybe on this Ai Weiwei if too flimsy but sounds like a no go for collectors.
Linen backing is also used for upholstery to stabilize it if you want to use a fabric that may be a bit too lightweight for the purpose.

Does anyone know if the print in the book is actually a page of the book (i.e. it isn't removable) without being cut out? I got the Venice Elegy book. It is numbered /200. The image is not printed on the page, but it is a cutout image attached to the page (offset litho by the looks of it). There are several of these cutouts in color on subsequent pages, but not with Ai Weiwei's signature on the page. The twine knot can be easily undone and the signed page framed, with full reversibility to the original state. |
