NEED HELP ON EARLY BANKSY PRINT WITH CONDITION ISSUE , by The Italian One on Oct 26, 2020 16:45:47 GMT 1, Hello,
recently bought an early Banksy print wich i love.
I had the opportunity to buy it in a private sale, the print is float mounted and obviously already framed.
It was bought as it is from a very famous gallery in london (i do have invoice of sale) by the previous owner.
The front of the print is almost perfect but the back has a thin line of glue along the upper side that obviously is attached to keep the print float mounted.
Now i can't decide if keeping the print and enjoy the art as it is in the years to come or take it to a restorer and remove the attached glue with all the risk involved.
really i can't decide which is the best solution, any help or consideration will be much appreciate
thanks

NEED HELP ON EARLY BANKSY PRINT WITH CONDITION ISSUE , by mojo on Oct 26, 2020 17:17:04 GMT 1, I personally would leave as it is since its on the back of the print. I doubt it would impact the future sale price whereas if you took it to a restorer you are then obliged to mention that it has been restored in any future sale.

NEED HELP ON EARLY BANKSY PRINT WITH CONDITION ISSUE , by Deleted on Oct 26, 2020 17:23:47 GMT 1, If it's on the back, not visible from the front and there aren't concerns that the glue will affect the paper, leave it. Who cares what the back looks like?

NEED HELP ON EARLY BANKSY PRINT WITH CONDITION ISSUE , by sfnyc on Oct 26, 2020 18:43:28 GMT 1, I would try to restore professionally just to prevent risk of residue damaging the paper further on the long run and potentially appearing through the front in 20 years.
