Wrong War Poster - Fake or Real?, by JAlternatión on Oct 29, 2020 12:30:32 GMT 1, I'm struggling to believe this is real, but just wanted to validate with others... Etsy has listing for a Wrong War poster from the 2003 Australian exhibition at £25k. Going to the gallery website shows it for £15k. There is some provenance in terms of photos from the exhibition of 4 posters (one of which is torn), and the seller claims to have 2 of the remaining 3 which were removed from the wall intact. No PC is available as stated on the gallery website.
Wanted opinions on whether it's fake or real. It seems like a reputable gallery, but i'm amazed that someone could get 2 of the 3 posters off the wall (presumably pasted up) in such good condition, and them still to be so intact 17 years later.
I can't see that anyone would pay that money for a poster that has already been refused PC, but real, or not?

Wrong War Poster - Fake or Real?, by kwatis on Oct 29, 2020 16:31:04 GMT 1, While I don't think that the Paddington poster is actually Banksy, I don't think that means that the Wrong War is fake.
I own the same Wrong War and the images matches the details, dimensions, etc. And although there is photographic evidence of them being pasted, not all were. That's the reason why it was refused PC as they were never intended to be sold or distributed. I received mine from a friend working the same event and were never pasted up and/or removed.
I will say that there are certainly more than 4 in existence.

Wrong War Poster - Fake or Real?, by JAlternatión on Oct 29, 2020 16:50:16 GMT 1, Interesting. That would make much more sense than having had them peeled off the wall and still being in great nick. To be honest it came from a random search as ended up with Etsy credit, and there is no way i would spend anywhere near that level on a non PC certified Banksy piece.

Wrong War Poster - Fake or Real?, by kwatis on Oct 29, 2020 18:00:51 GMT 1, My Name is Frank those would be the placards. Lots of documentation of those in circulation along with many fakes. These paste-ups are significantly less known/discussed.
Aside from these being in the Semi-Permanent exhibition, I am sure that they were used elsewhere. Unfortunately I've never been able to find any additional info and/or supporting documents to this theory. The only point of reason I have is why stop at just a handful/dozen of these if they were meant to be paste-ups? Doesn't make sense, but what do I know...
