Purchasing from non UK Auction Houses., by Dubman on Nov 9, 2020 13:19:01 GMT 1, Does anyone have any experience of buying from non UK Auction houses like Bukowskis or Heritage for example.
What are the taxes, carriage and insurance liabilities?
Is it worth the extra hassle and does anyone have good / bad insight or experiences
Feels like a faff.

I get emailed constantly from Heritage (for example as i signed up once!) who are US based and have seen pieces from Bukowskis Auctions who are in Stockholm. So i was wondering if anyone here has purchased from an Auction house outside the UK? I imagine the taxes /duty, insurances and carriage costs mount up.

Purchasing from non UK Auction Houses., by startimeash on Nov 9, 2020 13:51:36 GMT 1, Have bought from a couple of French and German auctioneers (not urban art, tho) and have never had any problems - postage has actually been cheaper than from a lot of UK houses!

Guess this will be depending if you can seal the deal and have it delivered before the new year. As long as it's within EU. Brexit you know.
Edit: I suspect a lot will change with auction prices after Brexit, but that deserves its own thread.

Have bought from US auctions more than once (incl. Heritage, Swann, Christieโs NYC)
I always agree beforehand on the cost of shipping (incl crating, insurance etc...) for pieces i am interested in bidding on.
I also send them about 500 emails insisting on how to label the paperwork so it goes through customs more easily
Never had any issues and got some good deals (before sterling took a dump of course)

Being clear on the medium, whether original / edition, artist signature or not...
And the appropriate tax code of course

Purchasing from non UK Auction Houses., by kfroms on Nov 9, 2020 14:44:10 GMT 1, I bought from - and sold with - Bukowskis while living in Stockholm.
Can't comment on shipping / taxes and insurance but the overall experience was very good. They are the market leader in Scandinavia since ages, a bit old school ( in a nice way ) and very reliable.
