Security Notice for Artnet Galleries Clients
Dear Artnet Customer,
Thank you for being a valued client of Artnet Galleries.
We are writing to alert you to a recent scam involving malicious actors posing as employees of a member gallery who might attempt to solicit fraudulent payments from you.
If you recently made any inquiries to our member galleries through the form on our website, the following information may be compromised:
The name, email address and telephone number you entered into the inquiry form used to contact the gallery.
The name of the gallery you sent the inquiry to.
The artist and artwork you inquired about.
The message you typed into the inquiry form.
We wanted to warn you that these malicious actors could potentially use the information mentioned above to impersonate actual employees of galleries in an attempt to convince you to send them money. For example, we are aware that some Artnet users have received WhatsApp messages from scammers who attempt to solicit a fraudulent payment from the user.
Accordingly, please be on alert and always remember:
Suspicious communications should be verified by calling the gallery’s official phone number.
Do not reply to any suspicious communication.
If you have even a small doubt that you are dealing with a scammer, please call your gallery directly or call/email us directly at +1-212-497-9700 / support@artnet.com and we will be happy to provide assistance. Remember, do not contact the gallery through any of the contact information in the suspicious communication. This could be the scammer’s—not the gallery’s—information.
