Constructive Criticism, by Deleted on Nov 12, 2020 18:27:09 GMT 1, Not listening to you Carl, you're too talented. Go paint a funnel. I do have a full time job and have a hours drive to a studio which is booked up most of the time. As said I really should be doing originals before editions but not that easy, and as you will know screenprinting isnt for a few prints. But luckily I dont do this for the money and have a well paid job (for now). But its the sales that tell me people really like my work, whereas a click doesn't. Yes I like it if its free. Make the screens, burn them yourself, it will literally cost nothing but time and ink once its set up. Plenty of demos on YouTube of how to do it. Keep chipping away dude. I have screens. Am on the lookout for a used vacuum table. I generally print 70x50 which means a1 printer and a large exposure unit and drying rack. Also dont fancy jetwashing screens in the garden when -5 outside

Constructive Criticism, by Deleted on Nov 12, 2020 18:32:32 GMT 1, Not sure why youโd care what this forum thinks? This place pick fault with selling artists that travel the world doing what they could only dream of doing for a living make what art you like and if it happens to resonate with others that thatโs the bonus but donโt over analyse it. I used to post on the show us your own art thread until I got bored of the private messages telling me what I should paint. Although I did knock up something in response to those. Lol there's a few on this forum as well which is why i thought twice about posting, but its been worthwhile. At least people speak their mind and dont blow smoke.... I have summised that the issue is subject matter and message. So on that basis my next print will be mother theresa saving immigrants from sharks.

Constructive Criticism, by Deleted on Nov 12, 2020 18:40:22 GMT 1, FWIW I too really like Asylum Seeker and Change of Allegiance I would say that they are both clever. Being totally honest, I saw Asylum Seeker a few days ago and my initial thought was โsomeone ripping off Invaderโ so I didnโt really appreciate it. Now Iโve looked at it again, I think it is intelligent and well executed. The same goes for Allegiance. In terms of a couple of points made about a) it costing you a lot to produce a print yet wanting to sell out editions and b) a couple of people saying you should start with originals. Forgive my ignorance here, for it is vast. Could you start by making one print, costing you less money and put it on Instagram for ยฃ60? It is an edition of 1, therefore an original. If it sells and you get another 20 people asking about this one, you can then decide to do another edition, of 10, with perhaps a colour variation and release that? The buyer of the first print is happy because they have an original and the buyers of the second release are happy that they got what they wanted and you havenโt got 40 prints lying in a file, wondering why they didnโt sell. If costs prohibit releasing one-off screenprints, then Iโd say the key thing you need to be able to do is create the image that you want to release and get a strong idea of how others feel about it, before committing to a print run. Not everything is going to be a hit. Some of what you think is your best work, others wonโt appreciate as much and youโll be baffled as to why. Youโll never keep everyone happy. Sometimes people donโt laugh at things I say half as much as I think they should*. I canโt understand it but have concluded that their loss. Good luck with what youโre doing and hope you enjoy yourself along the way. * They do really, Iโm the funniest guy I know. I was just trying to make you feel better. Yes ideally I should be making originals and then editioning if they sell. Screenprinting doesnt really work for one offs. Just to give you an idea of costs. 1. studio membership. 2. Studio sessions fees 3. Petrol 4. Positives. A1 is circa ยฃ10 plus postage. So 3 layer print circa ยฃ40 5. Ink 6. medium 7. Cucumber 8. Paper 9. 2 years shortened life from stress. Lots of mistakes and wastage.

January i moved into my first studio in 5 years, if it takes you cleaning screens In the garden in the freezing cold for a hour to be able to make more work, then its probably a good option.
Keep on doing your thing mate.

Constructive Criticism, by stender on May 16, 2024 9:16:19 GMT 1, Ok so i exaggerated. Having now setup my own equipment and not relying on studio spaces i'm now questioning whether to continue with the printing or find my fame on you tube. Any feedback on my works however brutal? The only marketing i do is on instagram and most posts are only seen by followers, and the same kind people liking the posts prob even if they think the art is shite. very difficult to grow your market. So I'm trying to get some feedback on why i'm not selling much lately. Is it the artwork? is it the pricing? is it that i'm not advertising it enough? I priced my prints pretty low but again does that put galleries off selling my works as 50% of 60 quid is not for them? or is it just crap art? i cant really do art markets as its difficult to display and stock large prints.
It seems to me that I would sell more prints if i just printed motivational words in a nice font or traditional flowers and butterflies. Or should just switch to Tees.

Constructive Criticism, by Eton Groover on May 16, 2024 15:26:04 GMT 1, Great thanks. Forgot can only discuss art that has a secondary market. Not really, just the forum is a bit dead nowadays.
You seem to to be trying to produce products that appeal to a market. This is commercial graphic design not art. You were close when you said you would be better off just printing slogans on backgrounds. There is definitely a market for "art" that is just high quality prints with mass appeal.
For me, artists just output regardless of any commercials.

Constructive Criticism, by stender on May 16, 2024 16:50:18 GMT 1, thanks for reply. Agree but is it any different to what is in the majority of the contemporary galleries? I am thinking commercials but clearly not on point with the market.
