Acceptable framing timescale, by cmc on Nov 16, 2020 11:27:05 GMT 1, In my experience of using quite a busy framers in a large city the frame, glass/acrylic and matting etc is all chosen on the day together then the work takes a week or two but I've never asked for a rush job or anything. I've had things left at a framers for months.
Also to add - the price was given on the day and deposit paid I think? It's been a while since I went there covid n all.

Acceptable framing timescale, by Deleted on Nov 16, 2020 11:48:30 GMT 1, Acceptable is subjective, but I've been quoted lead times anywhere from a week to eight weeks. In my experience, there's no rule. It just depends how busy the framer is, whether it's a one-person operation, etc.

Acceptable framing timescale, by GMA on Nov 16, 2020 12:00:40 GMT 1, Always agree the timescale before proceeding. I usually wait around 3 to 4 weeks because they're busy. But they'll let me know this before agreeing anything.

Acceptable framing timescale, by Deleted on Nov 16, 2020 12:33:22 GMT 1, I aways have to wait a month for mine. Its a one-man operation and he's always busy and he does a good job. I want him to frame the work so that's acceptable to me.

Acceptable framing timescale, by Deleted on Nov 16, 2020 12:46:21 GMT 1, depends on the framer and what you're having done. I can pop in my local framer who does bog standard framing (non archival), choose a moulding and pickup a couple of days later if he has the moulding in stock. I went to a well known framer who does the full archival etc recently to get a plain box frame and he wanted me to call to setup a 1 hour consultation appointment. I've spent less time choosing a car! That put me off and can envisage how long the actual framing would take.

Acceptable framing timescale, by themenya6 on Nov 16, 2020 13:50:13 GMT 1, This all sounds reasonable then. Given I'm currently going into the 6th week.

Acceptable framing timescale, by eyectopus on Nov 16, 2020 13:57:55 GMT 1, I am currently waiting a month so far and expect the framing to be complete in two weeks. The prints I am having framed were flat, but if they needed to be flattened it could take longer.
Materials and the current delays and restrictions could add time also.

Acceptable framing timescale, by kwatis on Nov 16, 2020 13:58:41 GMT 1, themenya6 if you're unsure, contact the framer.
I have a great relationship with my go-to framers and as some other people have commented, I never rush them.
Additionally with the pandemic, I know my framer's schedule has been complicated. Possible delays from supplies getting materials shipped, limitations on small businesses, etc.
If you plan on using them more and wanna build a strong professional relationship, better to have dialogues that get you both on the same page. If you have expectations that aren't voiced or they have complications that aren't shared, you're borh going to get soured on each other.
