I suspect some of the 'LOL, no thanks' gang will be buying tickets to this on the quiet. I was at Bristol Museum, Dismaland, GDP, I even travelled to Nottingham a couple of weeks ago during a pandemic, so I don't see why I should be made to feel like a fool to be excited to have another opportunity to see works by any artist I like. Yes, I'd prefer to support Banksy directly, and will continue to do so whenever he releases something new, but I spend £20 on all sorts of rubbish these days. I spent over a tenner on KFC's new gravy burger last night and Im sure I'll enjoy a couple of hours looking at Banksy works much more.

So I'm thinking of putting on a massive retrospective of your work, you will have absolutely no say on what works are included, how they will be displayed, the ambiance/atmosphere of the event, the preview night will be private so you won't be invited neither will any of your friends, family or long time supporters, you will have nothing to do with press releases or in fact any involvement whatsoever with any press coverage (don't worry I've arranged for a talking head to speak on your behalf for all the tv & press and they've been really into your work for well over a year now). I will also be charging people £21.50 for entry and will be selling shit loads of rip offs of your work, obvs you won't be receiving a single penny from all this however I will expect you to be extremely grateful since I will be increasing the perceived value of your work at auction. I'm afraid I'm not at all interested in any of the charities or causes you support so you'll just have to use your own artist resale cash for all that stuff. I'd really like it if you'd endorse the show and you know send it out to all your followers on social media however I'm doing it anyway even if you hate the idea. Cheers mate (even though I've never met you). P.S Can you do us a new canvas for the show you know something really edgy and political not too left wing though cause we're extremely wealthy capitalists and always vote Conservative.

I get your point, and it made me chuckle. But, coming back to the instagram convo above, Banksy does illegal graffiti on people's walls! He doesn't ask for permission, he doesnt seem to mind if they then get unwanted attention/press/vandalism as a consequence of his work. There is an element of pot kettle to all of this.

Its quite funny to see so many people moaning at £25 for a ticket, when all ive seen on here the last few weeks are people spending hundreds on a Banksy sticker.

I went to an unofficial Banksy show in Hong Kong. I thought it was very professionally put together.

Well worth the money.

i would pipe up about fools and their money paying £250 for a beermat but being that i gave a handful of them away Ill say nowt !

I’ve never been to any of these unofficial exhibitions but a few years ago I went to the small exhibition at Lionel Gallery and it was very good to see lots of works I’d never seen before, it was free to go in and peruse.

Genius or vandal by any chance ? Saw the adverts on the cabs out there, unfortunately missed it !
