Big Bad Me print , by canvazdublin on Dec 2, 2020 20:02:48 GMT 1, So we’ve pasted across London, Dublin, Bristol, Brighton and Berlin. (Miami next week) We’ve sent 1000s of stickers across the world
Heres the why
#bigbadme turns vandalism on its head and exposes it for what it is: welcome to the me age. Social media forces us all to create personal brands. The algorithm breaks down everything to the lowest common dominator: me. The last syllable of Millennial’s most-loved brand Supreme has been cut and pasted all-over. Me me me me me... The #bigbadme project questions the cultural vandalism propagated brands such as Supreme and fans alike. Selling (or buying into) a dream of freedom and opportunity available to all. But is it? “The project is a reflection of the times we live in, when people no longer can find the truth, and strive for instant gratification. Me subverts traditional advertising and brand marketing turning it back on itself. ” - CANVAZ
We’re not finished but we’ve made a silk screen edition of 101 on Fabriano Rosaspina, 60cm x 90cm signed & numbered 150euro plus shipping
if you like to pre-order please send a mail to mail@canvazstreetart.com quoting URBANARTASSOCIATION
If you’d like a sticker pack just dm
thanks

But don’t worry to much, there’s loads of other artists who don’t give away free stuff and make chocolate box images that’ll be along in a moment

Big Bad Me print , by My Name is Frank on Dec 3, 2020 9:54:42 GMT 1, Turns vandalism on its head? I’m confused You give me stickers I do the advertising for you then you sell me stuff? So it’s about you not me. That how this works? I am inclined to agree with this at the moment. Making a statement against those who make cultural vandalism, for personal gain is fine, along with big tech algorithms and brands.
We did something back in the leftery days about how commercial brands don't really care about you, just pretend to for their own ends. It chimes with this message a bit
imgur.com/Xi7AXZq
We couldnt sell anything for toffee, but it was considered that this would be a pie in the face of the message to try and do so with the image.
Your message is good, just interested to see how you can square the circle of pasting up the image damning commercial vandalism in major cities, then selling a print of it commercially?

Big Bad Me print , by canvazdublin on Dec 3, 2020 10:23:52 GMT 1, Yes. It’s an issue. But the print won’t cover the cost of the project. It would be much easier to make sub banksy work or pretty images. So instead of burning out we felt it was better to make a high quality print edition using quality Fabriano papers, local screen printers and we believe better then a lot of editions flying around at the moment.
We still will post sticker packs for free and continue with the project in various forms. With lock down we still managed to succeed to spread the work widely and we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved. It amazes me that people will be critical of us for giving away stickers. They’re free. With no expectations.
If you like what we do that great. It’ll look strong on a wall. If you don’t agree with our methods or ideas. That’s fine too. At least you noticed and no one got hurt.

Still totally recognizable as Supreme (just sold to corporate giant) with just “me”, better aesthetically, just my opinion.

I would move away from cultural vandalism and make the campaign more about the concept of “me”, which started with the Me Decade and has corrupted mankind into a each man for himself who has the most as current status. “Me” is about all the a$$hole influencers. Interesting campaign, could be better.

Big Bad Me print , by canvazdublin on Dec 3, 2020 12:44:32 GMT 1, I agree but there was a time when “streetart” was about not just the work but the act. You were making a Mark. Giving a stance. Add fuel Now it’s pretty murals. In Dublin a lot of “street artist” are really extensions of marketing companies. On this project 5 of our site were cleaned up with advertising Social media influencer tend to push basic messages regarding diet, fashion and mental health. Never issues of the day such as Brexit The narrative tend to be the same as the social media companies
Supreme is the similar to Kaws and other hype items. It’s about extreme consumption.
