Very suprised Jon One did so well with that amount of works in the auction, he is a great guy and really down to earth when it comes to his work.
Wow, I am surprised how the New York taggers brought in such good money. I guess they're well respected in Europe. Has anyone worked with Johnny Grizot, or the Urban Art Auction with Tajan Auction House in, I believe it's France. They've ask me if I have any pieces I'd like to include in their auction but I know nothing about them. Are they for real? Are they well respected? Can anyone vouche for Johnny Grizot? All these NY tagger have been flooding the French market for years... Call it ignorance, some galleries in France buying stuff from a popular NY gallery and putting these in auctions (despite the fact many are stil available at source at a much lower price). I spoke to this gallery, he is aware of this but then we all need money I think France has been one of the biggest collectors of NY graffiti over the years and has a great understanding of the genre. Many collectors in France hold work from the NY writers which has slowed them I think from embracing some of the more contemporary graffiti artists, but it looks like things are slowly changing. Very suprised Jon One did so well with that amount of works in the auction, he is a great guy and really down to earth when it comes to his work. |

every lot has its own page to show it off..... you feel like bidding on every piece!
its urban art... but the feel of the catalogue makes you think its a contemporary evening sale!
