Bad Buying Experience from (Name removed)o, by honestcrooks on Dec 11, 2020 10:22:54 GMT 1, I don't understand why as a seller you wouldn't want insurance on your piece. Every time I sell something, I almost insist to ship it with insurance. If for one reason or another, the buyer doesn't want to, I let him clearly state it's HIS choice not to pay for insurance and it's on his risk. Other way around, if as a buyer the seller doesn't want to help me out with insurance on his piece, I just don't buy it. Things can go well one thousand times, it only has to go south once and then you're screwed. And I've never, ever opened a package in front of a courier. I barely get to see their back when they run away after they threw the package off at my door.
I've had a similar case with a porcelain piece of CaseStudyo a few months back. I sold it to a very friendly gent in Asia. I asked him if he wanted insurance, he said he didn't need it to. I put it in the invoice that I asked and he declined and by paying the invoice he would be ok with it. I provided perfect pictures of every angle with clear characteristics of the piece (a little imperfection in paint and such) so in the worst case of something breaking, we both could rely on the right pictures and that the piece couldn't be switched upon delivery. Once it arrived, the piece arrived broken even though the packaging was perfectly fine and only was in transit for 3 days from EU to HK. He asked me if I could check with insurance what we could do and I pointed out I asked him twice and he declined both times. Luckily for me, the buyer was a man of honor and he admitted his mistake by not taking insurance and he thanked me for the good transaction and saw no flaw in my actions.
Are there any pointers (for seller AND buyer) where you can verify the pictures you traded of the broken and complete figure, are the same sculptures? Little imperfections in paint, certain details that are put on by hand that could differ from each other? Just to make sure the buyer didn't switched a broken piece upon delivery or the seller who had 2 pieces of the same sculpture and wanted to offload the broken version.
Very curious to see how this will end. Hope it will be resolved for both parties. Nobody wins in this otherwise.

Bad Buying Experience from (Name removed)o, by Happy Shopper on Dec 11, 2020 10:31:20 GMT 1, "Moreover, At today I have no proof that it’s my sculpture who arrive broken (some big parts should be desintegrated in dust without dust in the package !!). If you continue I will screenshot all your emails to proof you are a lyer !" Sure, I have those emails too. Feel free. I wonder whose sculpture it is. (Calm down, you have the money, I should be the one that is livid. We should have gone this Judge Judy route before. Glad you are now responding!) Livid for which reason ? Because you are not able to respect your word and finalize the deal ? You prefer dirty my name, find pretexts and stop here, it’s your choice, I respect it ! Mr Wu I won’t waste my time more longer with you ! Have a nice holidays too 👌
Unless you specified the item would be sent cheaply, without insurance, and the buyer was taking the risk, then it’s up to you to make the refund (and make a claim with the shipping company, if possible)
Did you tell the buyer there’d be no insurance?

Bad Buying Experience from (Name removed)o, by rogerwu99 on Dec 11, 2020 16:24:01 GMT 1, @honestcrook appreciate that story. This is the ending. I wanted to get unbiased opinions before I exercise my sole form of recourse. It has been difficult for me to post that I have lost here.
As is clear from the thread (I'm the best packer, and clearly if something went wrong there is a witch hunt or hoax against me.), there is no empathy and no understanding (why am i livid??).
Regardless, I'm looking to move on (leave it in 2020) and learn from the experience and if anything see if there's an opportunity to create tools to make this better for both parties (i.e. flat rate escrow?, easy to determine insurance rates?)

Do post a pic of the work though if you get a chance. I expect that would make your point very well
Best of luck
