Security System Advice, by verylittlehelps on Dec 16, 2020 21:20:08 GMT 1, Hi All,
I'm looking at having an alarm system installed and wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations?
I believe art insurers would expect a good quality system with link up to security teams/police, so any ideas about who to consider/avoid would be appreciated

Security System Advice, by Ruskr on Dec 23, 2020 11:22:13 GMT 1, I have a complex system (32 Cameras) with camera tripwire, license plate and face recognition and many other things - for this Dahua is awesome and very easy to monitor.
If you want a simple system without cameras I recommend you Ajax - thatโs what Iโm using for my apartments.
And better link them to a fast intervention team. I have guaranteed that they will be here in less than 3 Minutes.

I'm curious to know how your face recognition system works, surely that would have to be hooked up to an actual database to run the images against? It doesn't sound like the usual off the shelf solution you have, do you live in an actual gallery?
Buy a motion sensor panel with a dog bark, burglars certainly think twice as soon as they hear that. Throw a dog bowl outside in the garden with some water in it

Really interesting. That sounds like quite the set-up! Perhaps too much for me, and I suspect rather pricey with a rapid response team thrown in.
The more I look into it the less confident I am of buying an alarm package with a security/police response. It seems it's hit and miss whether they will come out to visit the property if the alarm goes off and will most likely miss the burglars by the time they arrive anyway. Im thinking a big loud alarm and maybe flashing lights (as I have smart bulbs) is as good a deterrent as anything else.

We have a quite big land plot and a couple employees working here. So all there faces are saved in the database and donโt trigger a alarm. As well all the neighbors which are walking there dogs around here are in the system. If there is a face which the system donโt know near to the perimeter it gives a soft alarm. If there are people which were more than 2 times lurking around the house and not recognized by the system it gives a โmediumโ alarm. The system is not very expensive. Dahua offer this all and to setup for a professional it takes 2-3 Hours for all configurations.

So check Ajax, they offer all this and you can connect it to the smarthome. You can do the setup by yourself and it takes a couple minutes.
Whatโs the price range? What are you willing to spend? A lot of companyโs offer you a free system if you are using there subscription.

That's a really good system, register the known faces and sound the alarm for the faces it doesn't recognise. Fair play mate, that sounds like a solid solution, and thanks for letting me know, I was genuinely curious about that facial recognition part. I never thought of it in that way, but it makes total sense.

Side benefit: keeping teenagers in (and other teenagers out). I should have done it sooner.

Iโve got Simplisafe and, if your goal is protection (i donโt know the UL certified so probably worth a different approach if insurance is a concern). Simplisafe is incredibly easy to install, cheap to monitor, and really effective. Iโm a fan and use it to protect my family and my collectionโI also donโt have much worth stealing, which makes it a bit safer around here
