Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by zarookhan81 on Mar 30, 2021 19:46:09 GMT 1, That's probably the reason why they have discontinued the 5711.
Despite the rumours of a 10-year waiting list 😅
Many reasons but mainly that Stern's dont want it taking over the brand like the Royal Oak with AP. It has become synonymous and probably AP's only way of making any money. Saved it back in the day but is now probably killing the brand if anything. Very little innovation with the Swiss! If you have any idea vintage Seiko watch guide. So tell me everything.

Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by whatsthestory on Mar 30, 2021 21:05:17 GMT 1, Late 60s Dr Ville maybe.
Don't think they were usually solid gold and the rest of it looks like steel.
Value depends a lot on how original the case / bracelet is. Could be as cheap as £500 or as expensive as a couple of grand if all original. If it has its papers then it's worth more.
Impossible to tell from pictures online though (by me), best to take it to a specialist to get it serviced and checked out.

Somlo Antiques in Burlington Arcade would be the go-to for an informed view. I think they’re authorised by Omega as the only vintage Omega dealers in the UK (or even world?)

Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by dan993c2 on Mar 31, 2021 6:50:16 GMT 1, I was always dan993c2 but had a minor spat with somebody and got tired with the way some threads went. But I had to rejoin this place as I need some more art after being lucky enough to score a Welcome mat and realised I need more art. Just recently picked up a Rossaart piece and looking forward to receiving it. Thanks Hubblebubble for making me aware of her art. Pleasure Dan and good to have you back (even though I’m not on here half as much as I used to be). What piece of Rosso’s did you pick up?w Hi mate sorry didn't see your reply picked up the See Through piece. As soon as I saw it I knew it was for me.

Rolex clearly dominate the market and whatever they are doing works, but it ain't for me.

Nope - but for me there is only one Reference in the current catalogue which I like anyway
Rolex could do so many great things. But what they do is fiddle with details, make cases bigger and offer new dial colours. Boring and predictable.
Will be the same with this years expected updated Milgauss and the Explorer I

Watch Collectors ⌚ Buy & Sell, by samo on Mar 31, 2021 15:17:28 GMT 1, Not a collector and no nothing about watches. This was given to me some time ago. It's a gold Omega Seamaster De Ville. Anyone know about these?
The Omega watch in the first two pictures is probably a:
Omega Seamaster De Ville reference ST. 166.0020
www.omegawatches.com/watch-omega-seamaster-de-ville-omega-st-166-0020
It appears to be some sort of two-tone version and still has an original Omega bracelet with type 70 end links.
To know for certain the watch needs to be opened and the reference number can be found engraved in the inner side of the case back.
It's probably best to let an experienced watchmaker open the case, to reduce the risk of damaging the watch. With the number on the movement (movement serial number) the watch can be dated.
To get an idea about value of this Omega watch:
If you want more information about your Omega watch I can really recommend the Omega Watch Forums: omegaforums.net/
The watch in the third picture is a different watch. It looks like a gold watch but not sure what it is. I can only identify the Speidel stretch bracelet. A picture of the dial would probably help to identify it.

I agree. Perfect size for E and DJ. 39mm E wasnt that much of a departure but the 41 DJ just dont wear as well and lose all their nice proportions and charm in my opinion. 1016 is what you really want though, right? Yes the 1016 is the one to have. It's nice to see Rolex stays true to their heritage and is going back to a 36mm size for the Explorer.
The 39mm version never felt right to me a bit out of proportion.

It really is embarrassing particularly for Rolex to see shelves devoid of SS sports models. Most of these watches go straight to a vault to be flipped sometime in the near future.

Rolex and Patel dull.
Innovation from others though. JLC are always exquisite, Lange amazing also.
Honourable mention to the new bvlgari perpetual calendar, thinnest in the world I read?
Edit: Also some nice Chronos from Breitling should get a mention

Might have to replace the heritage big block as even with my large flat wrists it looks a big watch at times. I do like a Rolex but with the way the brand is going I can only imagine other brand said benefitting. Luckily I have bought quite a few watches over the years so do get some sort of access but this is getting harder year on year. How I remember walking past my town AD in the early 90's gazing at the various Sports models in the window display.

Some watches hold value - Some don't.
