Artist-Hello, by aubreyh on Jan 18, 2021 15:51:05 GMT 1, Hi All,
Happy New year.
I have just joined this forum. I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I am young artist based in London.
My work is very textural. My main theme is nature as having grown up in countryside, so nature is what I know best and for me is one of most important issues of our age. I intend to celebrate nature as an escape from the digitalisation of the modern world. As we experience the world increasingly through a digital lens, we grow distant from nature, losing the opportunity to appraise its unique sense of tactility, depth, and contrast. Hence my heavy application of paint. I mainly work in oils and want the paint to feel almost as if it’s alive-dancing on the surface. Anyway please take a look at the work below. I would grateful to hear your thoughts and looking forward to being part of this forum. p.s photos make it difficult to convey the depth and texture of the work. The tactile abstracted landscapes the works come out over half a foot. Some works have over 20kg worth of oil paint. I have done some videos so do checkout: aubreyhiggin_art if you get a second.
Thanks in advance for taking time out to look at my works.

Thanks so much Tab. So thankfully I am now getting 50percent off oil paint due to the amount I am using. So largest works in paint probably around 800-900ish. 153x122cm...

Amoako, thanks for sharing and good to meet you. His works are great.
I wasn't aware of his work. But definitely see the link. He seems to mainly use polymer/cement and spray paint. Whilst I use Oils and wider colour palette and the connection to nature.

I have just commissioned my first ever work from an artist. I discovered the super talented Aubrey on UAA and am really excited to see how it goes. Will be a few months given the laborious process Aubrey goes through to bring texture and layering to his oil paintings.
I am looking forward to sharing the moody sea scape when complete.

Artist-Hello, by theclash on Mar 25, 2021 11:28:52 GMT 1, I spotted Aubrey on UAA shortly after joining and am glad I did and glad I found this forum. Lovely picture of one of his acrylic works in it new home on his instagram. This was one of my favourites of his with this paint, beautiful colours.
He is working on a large oil painting sea-scape for me with his signature layering and texture which will take 4-6 months to dry. Hopefully doesn’t turn into a Micallef 4 year drying project like his most recent masterpiece 😀
