Agreed. That should be the print they made.

Sandra Chevrier new drop, by kwatis on Jan 26, 2021 22:27:33 GMT 1, I heard from another collector recently that giclee is French for "spurt" or "squirt" and French youth use it as slang for diarrhea or ejaculate. I am in the US, so I can't actually verify that claim. But it does sum up my opinion of digital prints. Especially ones priced similarly to more technical methods like lithography and screen printing.

But I would say in this context the best translation of giclรฉe would be inkjet.

Sandra Chevrier new drop, by kwatis on Jan 27, 2021 1:13:37 GMT 1, Atom Gallery, true that it is a great means of reproduction. In that sense it is different from the other print methods. As a screen printer myself, I am a bit biased towards the more hands-on techniques. We had a saying in school: "printmaking, like sex, is not just about reproduction."

And I'm agree with you; for me a gliclee must be something about 150โฌ, the "work" isn't the same at all, than a screenprint or a lithography. For me it's something easy and at these prices, I think it's making fun of people

Sandra Chevrier new drop, by soupy on Jan 27, 2021 17:54:32 GMT 1, printing method aside... if you're gonna have a diptych of 2 faces, at least line them up so they are split 50/50. that would drive me crazy.... or just frame them overlapped.

Sandra Chevrier new drop, by kwatis on Jan 27, 2021 19:16:21 GMT 1, Atom Gallery please use that, it's such a great saying that I use with clients all the time. For me, the printing process should be about translating the image (from whatever original medium was used) thru the new medium used to make the multiples.
morleys thank you for confirming the slang. Might have to try to work that into my vocab more (the slang that is).
soupy I completely agree. I have a couple of Cleon Peterson's older prints (End of Days and Will To Power; the ones with the gradient landscape and two central figures) and its annoying that the horizon lines don't line up. My OCD prevents me from having them next to each other... Such an easy fix to make them line-up and makes the think that they rushed into production without the proper consideration.
