i haven't used them for tubes but have used their 7" and 12 " record mailers before and they are brilliant and once you've assembled them a really good way to ship vinyl.
I have bought sheets of glassine and tissue paper off the bay before too but not for ages. Biggest problem I ever found and it's a first world one is that the tissue paper with free p&p tended to come folded if buying larger sheets to cut down on the postage costs but it was then annoying when trying to roll it with the paper creased.

Just remember not all tubes are created equally, 2mm tubes are ok-ish but a bit thin, try to go for 3mm if you can. Also these tubes are good www.priorydirect.co.uk/direct-postal-tube-b1-101-dpt-b1101.html#1130233657
An important part of a tubes integrity is the tight fitting end caps (try squashing an unopened full can of beer and an empty can of beer)
