Also in this time period many temporary staff are employed through agencies and they do not follow procedures properly
I have had signed and special delivery packages left on my doorstep unsigned and in one case an expensive watch package left in my bin whilst the online tracking system has not been updated!

Loss of job there and destruction of artwork!
Better option buy a ยฃ10 pay as you go phone wrap in tiling lead and place in the package and set to vibrate and call after 24 hours, package updates and personal call guaranteed of update of tracking and record delivery

Due to the current coronavirus situation weโre no longer asking recipients to sign for items delivered on or after Saturday 14 March 2020. Due to the extraordinary nature of current events, we are suspending the fee refund, if we donโt capture the signature, as customers will not be signing for items delivered on or after Saturday 14 March 2020 until further notice. We will not consider a claim for loss, if the only reason for making the claim is the lack of signature, if there is evidence it was delivered. We will still capture the recipientโs name and confirmation of delivery which can be viewed at www.royalmail.com/track-your-item. Find out more at www.royalmail.com/coronavirus.
It actually doesn't make much of a difference, if someone knew they were going to request a refund they would do a squiggle or another signature and a fake name, now they just have to give a fake name...
