Your Health is Your Wealth, by Skippy on Feb 25, 2021 2:58:45 GMT 1, 2017 - sold immaculate Signed Gangsta Rat with COA for £28k ( paid around £5k few years earlier) Sold a 2015 Rolex Submariner for List Price.....
Paid off mortgage and had a real bounce in my step .
Zoom in now present day probably in the region of of £150k plus down... So what .....feeling I had at the time was and still feels priceless
Not seen my parents in person now for nearly a year due to lock down blah blah and travel restrictions...
Don’t regret a thing , who knows what’s around the corner but the way things have transpired recently and the gain gain mentality means nothing to me...probably why I sold original canvases on here for 5pence (£0.05)
Anyone feel the same or am I just an emotional Marsupial ?
Regrets....what’s the point ?
If I get to hug my parents in the next couple of months ...certainly won’t regret not getting invaders book...( good bloke - bringing out a some more anyway)
It’s not about the one that got away....it’s about cherishing what you have ?

Your Health is Your Wealth, by House of Arts on Feb 25, 2021 3:06:38 GMT 1, Regret might be the stupidest emotion. I haggled over three unsigned Banksy prints years ago when they were like 1.5k each. Didn't close the deal, would have been like 150k now. Who cares. You make decisions based on your current knowledge, to the best of your abilities, and then you just move on.

But it’s probably easier to be ‘glass half full’ when you own a house outright and had the funds to spend £5K on a piece of art and enough to buy a Rolex in the first place.
Just trying to balance the argument for the more naturally pessimistic among us.

Your Health is Your Wealth, by DAVE on Feb 25, 2021 8:36:52 GMT 1, Completely agree and it’s taken covid for me to see something similar.
Before was completely wrapped up in a fast paced world where I was making very good money, living for the moment shall we say. Excessive holidays, parties, meals, clothes, art etc etc. Fast forward covid hit and that and my job slowly disappeared...
However, it’s strange how in the times I’ve had to “scrape by” and be between jobs I was the happiest I’ve been in years. Completely changed my outlook on life and I’m looking forward to a more normal world in which I’m not so wrapped up in things that aren’t important or necessary to make you happy!
There are some positives. Great post.

Value is an interesting concept. I've hardly visited this site lately, my passion for art without being able to go to galleries/shows has vanished. And as you mentioned your Rolex sale, I haven't worn any of my watches in months.
The value of items definitely does all depend on the situation. And of course is not just determined by how much something is worth on the secondary market.

Your Health is Your Wealth, by orchid on Feb 25, 2021 11:32:54 GMT 1, By comparing yourself to others, you innately do so with those perceived to be better off or have better collections blah blah and ALWAYS end up, or feeling worse off. Did any of our ancestors have any of the mod cons we have today? Nope. Be grateful. And if you do have the means, GIVE BACK. 9% of Brits have £0 savings. A third have under £600. 41% don't have enough saved to live without income for a month. Get some perspective outside this luxury, self indulgent bubble for the ordinary man on the Street has but nothing.

Your Health is Your Wealth, by ashley123 on Mar 29, 2021 23:45:28 GMT 1, Health is no doubt the biggest wealth. I know people who have more than enough money, but they can't do anything to solve their health problems. My sister suffers from depression. She doesn't want to be on meds as they make her head foggy (according to the Canadian pharmacy site, this might be one of the side effects). All family members do their best to help and support her. It's a pity, we can't buy health for her.

Your Health is Your Wealth, by Ildefonso 77 on Mar 30, 2021 7:41:12 GMT 1, Health is indeed true wealth. You start realising that once you personally know people lose their lives from illness and covid19. Last year i was happy go lucky enjoying the extra time the pandemic afforded me with my young kids at home. I would routinely go out and attend socials etc. We all knew people that knew people that died from illness or covid to be more specific..
Fast forward to 2021, instead of the pandemic coming to a close with all the vaccines, it came crashing in! I personally know people, entire families that have been decimated by this virus. Mostly its the assymptomatic careless people carrying the virus to their loved ones w co morbidities etc.
I am more responsible now and see things differently. Everything comes into perspective. Real estate gains, making a few bucks or not on a flip, Participating in friendly jest or not with Hypeebeest collectors and keeping abreast with different galleries on who the latest and greatest art hero is and wether i want it or uber uber need it.
Things are so trivial, what truly matters is our health, our families health. At the end of the day things are just things and can quickly fade away as fast as your health. Hug your kids, say i love you to those dear and meaningful to you
Peace everyone!

Covid has hit everyone differently, as cliche as it sounds, there are winners and losers in this entire situation. We got through it, so far, but it hasn't been easy at all. To say the road has been bumpy would be an understatement but imo, it doesn't matter. I'm alive as are my closest and dearest.
