Have a look online at "lithograph Vs giclee" and every printing house is unanimous that the quality of giclee is higher. More colours, better accuracy etc etc.
I think people really have an issue with them being on an aluminium panel which contributes to the reflectiveness, not the giclee technique in itself.

The glossiness IMO is caused by laminating the prints to the back panels.

Heni Instagram stories have most of the pictures

I see many people here spending thousands on Avant Arte Giclees prints and praise how great their prints are... The quality in a Giclee should be better than a lithograph these days with the technology and color use. I would expect more and more top printing houses will start using Giclees - as newer technology is now making them better quality prints than other styles and cheaper to do.

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by artzzzy on Apr 3, 2021 14:56:18 GMT 1, I think the issue some collectors have with Giclees is not strictly about the quality, that is usually high especially if we’re talking about prints that cost a few thousand dollars.
It’s mainly because a giclee is just an exact reproduction of an actual painting.
Some collectors want more from a print than just having a copy or a photo of a painting. Something to make it stand on it’s own as an art-piece/form of art.
But these are personal opinions... and as usual to each their own..

No. Gicle are brilliant for family photos. That’s about it. There is zero artistic / craftsmanship / merit in a gicle print and I cannot see reputable printing houses embracing this bogus medium. They’re crap. Have always been crap and will always be a shitty medium for print collectors.

All checked and approved by the printers and artists. If the artist is happy with the giclee it’s art. And in most cases it is - Frederick’s, Hirst, Parla, Ricther etc As litho and silks just can’t get the colours right.. Doesn’t have to be done by an ancient technology to make it special. It just has to be right by the artist.

We’ll agree to disagree. One of the many lovely things about art is that it’s subjective. What one person loves, another finds boring.

IMO, this is one of the great fallacies of art. Artwork and artist can not be separated. You can't separate out this work from Hirst, so that statement 'If the Hirst signature wasn't attached to this' doesn't mean anything. Buying this, you are buying a piece of Damien Hirst's artwork, and a slice of his whole oeuvre and the conceptual explorations that have defined his career. It incorporates everything before it and is influence by everything Hirst does after. In no way can it be isolated from that context. So, these works are in relation to the Spot Paintings, to the Colour Space Paintings, etc. from the past and also the subsequent Fruitful and Forever editions and so on. The theme of cherry blossoms directly relates to his decades of exploration of life/death, including in works such as the infamous 'The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living' and the much-derided 'Blue Paintings', etc.
Full disclosure: I've never owned anything Hirst except a used copy of the Spot Paintings raisonne.

I love seeing the photos of them and think they are great. I decided not to buy one even though they ticked a lot of boxes in what I want to have on my walls. Another factor in addition to the above is that they can go straight on the wall without framing.

Intentional chaos. Like Pollock. Life hope spring. Opposite of diamond skulls perhaps.
Reason why theses aren’t just Doctor office’s paintings is because these are part of Hirst’s unique journey. Simple as they are.
A one minute doodle by Picasso takes decades to happen.

Lazy response. These were a cynical release right from the start. You’re trying to justify the price tag for something designed to make a huge profit for the least cost and effort. I hope you enjoy your highly reflective overpriced gicle. Call it what it is. This is precisely where it is (*signed and endorsers by Hirst himself)
