Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by whatsthestory on Apr 3, 2021 18:06:24 GMT 1, Trolls out in full force this bank holiday. Lazy response. These were a cynical release right from the start. You’re trying to justify the price tag for something designed to make a huge profit for the least cost and effort. I hope you enjoy your highly reflective overpriced gicle. Call it what it is. This is precisely where it is (*signed and endorsers by Hirst himself)
It's amazing how much time and effort you put into telling other people how to spend their money.
You've made your position on this release clear for a while but you keep coming back 🤷🏻♂️

It boggles the mind that people bought this garbage. Poorly printed and shiny as fuck lol. What else did people expect from the most cynical “art” release in recent memory. These “prints” are beyond laughable. Accepting crypto as payment?! Storing into a vault if you can’t be bothered to hang?! spin it however you want but these are so so poor.. I keep coming back because there has to be a dialogue and counterpoint to art world hype.
Edit: whatsthestory. You registered your account in Fed 2021 and practically ALL your posts are about this release / Hirst. Do you work for Heni? It’s clear you you have skin in the game... keep on hyping.

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by jimmyjam on Apr 3, 2021 19:28:09 GMT 1, Companies like Idem and Pace that uses older machines are pretty amazing. I’d rather have a silkscreen from a older printing master with one of those machines. Those are hard to beat.
Most silkscreens now used machines somewhat like this:
They are basically printers. They do make good prints tho as well.
The technology in printers now can do some amazing things. Soon even with 3d printers and photo printers will be able to make better quality prints - all around compared to many different print techniques.
I’m still the biggest fan of Japanese woodblocks but that just because the process of making them.

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by robo on Apr 3, 2021 23:26:32 GMT 1, I don’t get people logging in to swear about and make things up about an artwork they don’t like, don’t want, and didn’t buy. Sure they’re not for everyone. 7,500 people (including me) liked them enough to buy one and I hope they enjoy them.
I’d personally been following the development of Hirst’s cherry blossom canvases for a while so was delighted when these got announced. I’m pretty sure the canvas releases will be out of my budget.

At a major auction these could do very well.

Whilst potentially nice for owners that seems a bit high too soon to me? Perhaps a supply issue for now and once there are more available the price will come down in the short term.

The sold one was a Best Offer Accepted rather than full asking but can’t see what that was.

An American thing... what a stupid comment.
Perhaps there are just people on here who have no clue about collecting art...

Damien Hirst H9 • The Virtues, by jimmyjam on Apr 5, 2021 13:16:38 GMT 1, For such a famous artist, who is collected by huge institutions and collectors, the edition sizes on these are not bad at all. You do realize Koons and Ai Weiwei have editions pieces numbered in the thousands that sell for more than 8k and Koons selling for way more.
Those aren’t even signed.
I’m surprised this was not a clear - no brainer to buy - for most people in terms of investment wise. I think more people on here think Mr. Doodle is more collectible than Damien Hirst.

My "American thing" comment was tongue in cheek. I don't know if you are American yourself or are aware that, worldwide, Americans have this reputation of being a bit dim. The US is full of anti-vaxxers who think Bill Gates in putting microchips in to people. And then there's the ones who think the world is 6,000 years old and god created everything in 6 days. And I read that 6% of Americans think they have been abducted by aliens. By my estimate, that's about 20 million people!
I'm sure this is an outlier, but this reads as though you have no self awareness.

I personally don't take offense, but you can’t exactly call an entire group of people ‘generally dim’ these days. Fortunately said group was just Americans, and Christians who believe in creationism. Any other smaller group and you’d be a racist.

They'll fade in direct sunlight, but I agree that they look best with no glass.
