Reduction / Discount, by mabage on Mar 1, 2021 15:00:21 GMT 1, Hi,
I was thinking of buying a second print from a gallery, but from a different artist. Is it appropriate to ask for a discount? Or is it depending on the value of purchase?
The value of both purchase is about 1.500 Euro.
To be honest I am not good in negotiating. Thanks

Thanks totally appropriate, in fact it's often expected for the buyer to negotiate a discount, often around 10% or so

Reduction / Discount, by Raph on Mar 3, 2021 22:30:21 GMT 1, Depending if it is from an official release or just part of their catalog.
However, if it does not come from an artist they officially represent, their marge is often quite large, so you can ask for a discount.
If it comes from a represented artist, they can negotiate directly.
So in the two hypotesis, negotiation is possible.

If it is available it should give an idea of what a ‘fair’ price is, and hopefully you can negotiate accordingly.
a note of caution though, it doesn’t necessarily work out, I recently messaged a publisher to enquire about a piece from a blue chip artist. The piece in question is a fairly small edition of around 100, and has sold at auction over the last 12-18 months for £10-20k including fees. That particular publisher quoted me £30k for the piece. Suffice to say I haven’t taken them up on their generous offer...
