Forums for selling non street/urban art , by elisajafa on Mar 4, 2021 13:35:46 GMT 1, Thanks Mooncub ! I thought this forum was strictly urban/street and people will be annoyed if we post other types of art to sell
But does anyone else know other forums where I can offer the kind of artworks I indicated in my 1st message ?

I think it’s pretty safe to say that urban and street art has reached the level of respect typically reserved for more traditional “fine art”. Actually had a conversation with some artists about this topic earlier on Clubhouse. Post away buddy!

Forums for selling non street/urban art , by elisajafa on Mar 4, 2021 13:46:30 GMT 1, Onket that's this one (I don't know the size of the edition nor the price I want, the estimate by the Auction House was $1,000-$2,000) :
- DESCRIPTION ROY LICHTENSTEIN (1923-1997) Brushstroke, 1967 (Pasadena Art Museum) Screenprint in colors on paper 23" x 30" Signed lower right side in pencil
- CONDITION good.
Do someone have any idea of the valuation of this screenprint ?

Check sold lots in Sothebys & Christies you will see the difference in prices

I’m going to guess that he means that this forum lacks experts in valuation of a Lichtenstein print.

Wow, what an incredibly unhelpful post. What does the fact that there are fakes out there have to do with his post? Are you implying Sotheby’s and Christie’s are selling fakes with wildly varying prices?

Forums for selling non street/urban art , by LJCal on Mar 4, 2021 14:03:59 GMT 1, As IRL1 says it’s hard to value Lichtenstein signed ephemera because a lot of fakes, if it has very strong provenance with evidence it’s probably worth £2-3k, without it I would say £300-500. The signature looks ok but I’ve seen some of his signatures that I thought were real and turned out fake.

I see about 8/10 fakes every week in auctions.
If you read my post again you will see I was getting him to check prices of real ones in Sothebys/Christies He can also see what a real one looks like and check signatures.
Have a nice day

Forums for selling non street/urban art , by elisajafa on Mar 4, 2021 15:16:33 GMT 1, Onket Thank you
brycepen irl1 LJCal Wow there are fakes everywhere . I don't say that ironically, for true I'm disapointed by all I learn here. I knew there were some, but not so many. I think my last option is to see a real expert (as I thought Christie's, Sotheby's, Phillips were but from what you say it's not so true). But I don't know how to do it... Do you have any idea on how I can authenticate an artwork (in France please ) ?
irl1 The Auction House is Black River Auction. I just made researchs and yeah they can sell fakes... I think it's intolerable, an auction house has 1 job (in my mind): verify that the artworks are real & authenticated. But I begin to think their 1 job is just to make money with buyer's premiums without taking care of the lots ther are selling... It's a total disgrace.

From the responses above I'll assume that's a no. But if anyone does know a good one and they wouldn't mind sharing, I'd definitely be interested.

Forums for selling non street/urban art , by Lazarus II on Mar 4, 2021 18:29:17 GMT 1, There is some excellent Lichtenstein knowledge on this board. In a previous life on here I bought a Whaam diptych from a good member and the works came with excellent provenance and traceable history. I had some correspondence with a couple of members on the works i bought and Lichtenstein in general, sadly all of those DM's were purged when I bit the dust and I cant recall the names of the members who gave me excellent information.
Suffice to say with Lichtenstein, provenance is key and as much history you have on the print as possible will assist in getting a sale.
I am certain that the Whaam I have is legit based on the provenance it has and what I would say is that the signature on the print in this thread looks somewhat different from the signature on the print I have.
That might not mean anything and Lichtenstein signatures could vary between prints, I have no idea, but there will be some folks on here with good knowledge of this.

Forums for selling non street/urban art , by John The Badgers on Mar 4, 2021 19:58:20 GMT 1, Good advice above, and just my comment, but without a COA, picture of it being signed, you will never be able to categorically confirm, and as Irl1 quite rightly says, an awful lot of fakes about?
A bit like the Stik items you often see, all a bit vague, and wide open for people to profiteer. At the end of the day, not eye surgery for any Shyster to forge a signature.
If I was selling it, I'd play it with a straight bat, you can give all the details you hold, and focus on the positives, and allow the buyer to decide if its one for them.
I'm no expert, but is this where eBay comes in? A clear ad, and it will find its value?
