And the "VAT/Sales tax" comment is directly referencing the hammer price. I'm not having a go at TateWard as I suspect it is not actually their fault. I am just saying it is incredibly confusing and unclear and I, for one, did not want to risk getting a bill that is far higher than I anticipated. |

I have used various auction houses that use a symbol against lot numbers where VAT will be added to the hammer price (as well as the buyer's premium). This is fairly common practice. I don't mind as long as things are clear so you can adjust your bid accordingly. |

If the work was not sold in the margin scheme i.e. it was owned by a company that had reclaimed the VAT on the purchase then yes there would be VAT on the hammer as well as on the premium. It's rare but it does happen, particularly in liquidations of company assets. |

Returning to the Truman Brewery for the view and auction in the same space as our April sale. The consignment deadline is the 2nd of September, please contact danny@tateward.com or nick@tateward.com to discuss consignments and vendors terms.
On lots over ยฃ5000 we will pay consigners 48 hrs after the lot has been paid for in line with our commitment to operate differently to other houses. We expect strong footfall at the view with Freize and Moniker opening close to the sale. People talk about the seasonality of auctions Oct is traditionally a strong time to sell.
I look forward to presenting a great selection of work and welcoming members to the view.

Some items didnโt arrive in time to be photographed so weโve had to use stock images in some cases.
