Berkeley auction march 7 (Banksy, Haring, Indiana, Warhol, e, by LJCal on Mar 7, 2021 7:44:14 GMT 1, From what I can see most of those lots look fake, I wouldn’t personally go near that auction house especially given their ts and cs.

Thanks for posting fella 👍
Seems this is the way forward and is increasing which is not good. Many lower auction houses are making a lot of money selling tat and fakes. Last week Lloyds Auction House (Australia) were confronted by Facebook members as they were selling 'original' Banksy street signs and at the time I looked there were bids of $2000. Lots of people told Lloyds to remove them from the sale ASAP.
They had an arrogant response, I can't recall the wording but basically stating that the owner watched Banksy paint them in Sydney 2003, and they were standing by his authentication 🤦. So guys I would be wary of buying anything from Lloyds going forward and again any new members reading this the only guaranteed authenticity is via pest control 👍

LJCal thanks for your recommandations ! Can you explain me what are ts and cs ?
Jeezuz Jones Snr It's so revolting that auction houses are not doing their main job (authenticate artworks before offer them) nowadays and just want their fees regardless the authenticity of the artworks... (And that Banksy story )

In this case it doesn’t feel like they are not doing their job but more that knowingly selling fakes and saving their asses via the small print in the T&Cs is their business model. That said a little bit of common sense and due diligence should tell every buyer to stay clear of most of the works.

Looks that way mate and seems covid has made things more fluid and accesible, there's a lot of money floating around and people are investing.
Auction houses are going to cash in also, but in saying that it seems the lower ones like Tate Ward and others as mentioned are selling the tat and fakes and not the tier one auction houses.
Makes you think that criminals will be forging more to cash in also? What's going to pop up next on here? Fake stik, invader etc.. so many artists out there now who's prints are pricey?
Lot of us on the forum are clued up but we are a small number of collector's compared to the masses on Instagram etc who are thinking of buying.

TBF those terms and conditions would not stand up, if they are advertising items to be by a certain artist or author they have a basic duty of care to ensure their advertising is accurate, their statutory obligations cannot be contracted around. This assumes they unwittingly sold fakes, if they knew the items to be fakes then of course that is fraud, a criminal matter and any contract would therefore be void. Many major auction houses have tried to defend authorship claims behind these types of disclaimers and in most cases have failed. That being said this auction house is no way a legitimate outfit with any substance behind them and the likelihood of ever getting your money back in the event of an authenticity dispute is slim to none.

Berkeley auction march 7 (Banksy, Haring, Indiana, Warhol, e, by LJCal on Mar 7, 2021 9:25:58 GMT 1, What I find so deeply frustrating is that this goes on so frequently and brazenly and the police, auction aggregators, service providers and anyone with any power do nothing. It seems to be the same with so much white collar crime. Unless someone is stealing millions or billions the police won’t even investigate let alone bring charges or convict and anyone else just seems to turn a blind eye (your eBay’s, live auctioneers, internet service providers, banks etc). Various businesses I work with have been victims of fraud and in some cases it has run into hundreds of thousands and the police literally don’t care. I think it’s a major problem with art because there is literally zero regulation or oversight. It’s the Wild West out there people so be on guard, do your research and don’t fall for greed traps because there’s very little you can do if you become a victim.

Berkeley auction march 7 (Banksy, Haring, Indiana, Warhol, e, by silvermyn on Mar 7, 2021 9:57:54 GMT 1, This appears to be a newly formed auction “scam” house... Apparently with headquarters here in London, but has no physical address, they are using a virtual office with mailbox handling - like a ‘shell’. They are not registered on Companies House. Despite being based in London - prices are in Euros. Majority of items are clear fakes Their website speaks for itself... - if you want to end up with photocopies of images please carry on. Stay well clear.
The descriptions for the CYWs have "after" immediately after the title description. It's not very clear at all but the auction house would probably rely on it if there was any dispute.
There is a COA but they have not stated who issued the COA. Unless it is a Pest Control COA it is not worth the paper it is printed on.
If these were genuine Banksy prints then I would be astonished that the auction house failed to provide the necessary clarity in the description, or that the seller has let it proceed with such a poor description. These definitely smell whiffy.

Weird. But a potential problem for them if it’s a fake, as according to the description it would be legit:

This is Berkeley Auction’s address. 207 Regent Street, London W18 3HH - A lot of items in this sale are just plain wrong. Unfortunately they use liveauctioneers.com as a bidding platform - this company do no due diligence on items sold through their company and also take no responsibility of items listed through their site.

Strange as it seems but Sotheby's, Christies and Phillips use Invaluable and liveauctioneers for some of their auctions. There are some very good auctions on there you just need to be careful and 100% stay away from all the estate sales their a stomping ground for fakes.
As for Berkeleyauctions.com I saw their last auction before Christmas, 100% sure scammers

This auction is copying images and selling things they do not even have consigned - obviously most of the stuff is totally fake, but the drawing is real, it's just not theirs to sell.

The lack of Banksys trademark combined with the declining lack of faith in pest control COAs (see sotheby fraud) makes everyone think they can make their own certificates within any law. Banksy created a completely unique situation in the art world. all this for a 80 GBP graffiti fine lol

There is no lack of faith in PC certs, save perhaps by you alone. It’s fair to express one’s opinions (ad infinitum in your case) regarding a particular artist or artwork. But making false claims is not fair and proper. What evidence do you have of such lack of faith (other than your own)?
