In the interest of balance, do have a look at the 2017–2018 thread below, titled Invader Prisoners unsigned £1250:

It relates to the sale by Contemporary Art Trader of unsigned Prisoners prints not authorised by Invader.

My understanding from subsequent communications with orbi is that CAT had never even attempted to contact Invader to first verify that the multiple copies of these prints — being sold to members here for a four-figure sum — were even legitimate.

At the very least, I would call this a failure to carry out basic due diligence.


What remains unclear is whether it was:

(i) a deliberate choice on the part of CAT (i.e. "If we don't ask Invader, we won't get the answer that we don't want to hear");

(ii) a case of recklessness with other people's money; or

(iii) just innocent stupidity.


If memory serves, this clusterfuck of a sale eventually prompted CAT to shut down their forum account. I can fully understand why, but it did seem to me like a cowardly decision.
