Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by skybluemark on Mar 8, 2021 12:55:55 GMT 1, Be interested to hear what you think your most under rated piece of art is. That might be for its message, its look, or whatever - but lets leave financial gain out of the equation!!
I'll kick off with I-Need by Mantis. This was the first print I bought and the message speaks for itself, and in my opinion, is executed pretty well. As you can tell I'm no Brian Sewell.
Over to you.

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by jenko on Mar 9, 2021 0:51:49 GMT 1, I find it difficult to pick one underrated piece from all of urban/modern art so I'll choose one I've personally neglected in my collection...
Picked up a piece from Miss Aniela a while back (high level commission surreal photographer but also does prints of her work), it's a fuckin' beaut but haven't been able to frame and put it up yet. Criminal that I've let it stay under the bed so long.

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by mose on Mar 9, 2021 0:59:19 GMT 1, Ooh, great thread idea.
For me, it would have to be my Cameron Rowland. IMO, Rowland is the most interesting/exciting artist working with issues of race, urban life, etc. Very few of his pieces are for sale, I was quite lucky to be able to purchase one when I had the opportunity around 7 years ago.
Cameron Rowland Constituent, 2014 Outlet Dimensions variable Edition of 3
Outlets allow the flow of current through cable. When electrical cable is sold as scrap, the outlet is often still connected, but cannot be used and has no value. An electrician cuts the power supply to one outlet, removes the faceplate and reveals the copper core of two electrical wires.

Marilene Oliver Text Me 2003 Cast bronze with etched copper spikes
Marilene collected all the text messages she received over a year and etched them onto copper spikes. The piece still arrests me and is still relevant today commenting on how we communicate, how we are bombarded by messages from the outside and how we can to a certain extent use this as an armor.

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by Coach on Mar 9, 2021 23:47:23 GMT 1, I have three huge paintings by Case, one of my favourite artists. For reasons that escape me many people don’t seem to like them. I can’t fathom their antipathy. I think they are exquisite. I dont know much about Case, but this street piece I came across somewhere back in the day has always stuck in my mind. flic.kr/p/7Heue7
His street work is fantastic. I’d hazard a guess that was painted around the time of his Signal Gallery show, which was excellent. Case is 1/4 of the MACLAIM Crew along with Tasso, Rusk and Akut (who with Hera is Herakut). All 4 of them are superb.

Great pics. Thank you. I love the Case Maclaim tag a few pictures along. I used to own another Case, which was mostly of skin, save for a male nipple and a fly. Loved that painting.

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by gd79 on Mar 10, 2021 12:17:42 GMT 1, This is a great thread, nice one. Very taken by the Ms Amiens as well...
I think almost everything on my walls is under appreciated! At the moment, no-one else gets to see any of it I would plump for the below though. It's a shot of Banksy by Tim Walker. Indeed, I'd say that in terms of composition and framing, it's all banksy. It just happens to be shot by Tim Walker - himself very much a blue chip photographer (I believe the only photographer to have a solo show at the V&A). It wasn't cheap, but it's a large format /10 edition, and a fraction of the cost of a banksy print.

High praise indeed! Love case too but unfortunately when I was offered a piece I didn't really appreciate how good it was, my tastes have changed and would love to have one in the house

I might release a mother theresa version to see if it makes a difference. i personally like them but don't need 15 of each. Not sure how to post insta image like above.

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by skybluemark on Jul 20, 2021 13:03:28 GMT 1, I'm going to shamelessly resurrect this thread, as many have pointed out, nowadays this forum is more about how you can make a quick buck than discussing art.
I get that its a forum and so is open to any discussion, but when those discussions account for 95% of all topics, its getting a bit boring. Further those sorts of discussions seem to bring out the worst in people, so there it is, be nice and change the frickin record!!

Music to my ears. Sadly I’ve already posted mine, so can’t really contribute much further. That said, here’s another that some find a little disturbing, but do tend to appreciate how very well it’s painted.

Your Most Under Appreciated Piece, by Coach on Jul 20, 2021 15:09:45 GMT 1, Has to be my OG Mr. Jago. Bought it from a non-specialist auction a couple of years back; it had a larger cousin that sold at the same time that I still kick myself about not buying. Painted on MDF and it weighs an absolute ton; had to mount it on a TV wall bracket as nothing else would hold. Came from a tower block down in Bristol originally. I built the frame myself; it overhangs the edges of the painting by about 1/2" to cover over all the dings that it had picked up prior to my buying it. People tend to focus on the other bits in the room, despite it being the largest in there by a long way! I absolutely love it, and framing it myself makes me feel like I've added a little bit to it, too.
Lovely early Jago that.
