Pure Evil vinyl record (limited to 100 per color way), by jonvespa on Mar 8, 2021 19:37:01 GMT 1, Hi, this past week, Pure Evil and myself released a 7" electronic music record with Charles Uzzell Edwards AKA Pure Evil. It has a tracks from his past and present. Think Aphex Twin and Public Service Broadcasting...
The record has his art on the cover and record labels. The backside of the jacket is grip tape with the intention of damaging anything it comes in contact with.
We did blood red and black vinyl (100 of each). No represses ever.
check it at: stayfreerecordings.bandcamp.com

I liked the tune and the look of the vinyl Whether it's collectable or not didn't really come into my thought, otherwise £30 delivered is nothing. Will probably pick up the digital version instead (Not f*cking NFT)

Pure Evil vinyl record (limited to 100 per color way), by peas on Mar 12, 2021 19:03:54 GMT 1, The concept of the ‘backside of the jacket is grip tape with the intention of damaging anything it comes in contact with’ is nicked from Factory Records’ sandpaper sleeved initial pressings of The Durutti Column’s (excellent) 1980 debut LP ‘The Return of The Durutti Column’.
The sleeve came about after Tony Wilson mentioned to designer Peter Saville a book with a sandpaper cover that violently damaged your other books. The book was Mémoires, a 1959 collaboration between Guy Debord – the French intellectual and de facto leader of the Situationist International – and Danish artist Asger Jorn, and came to Wilson via Jamie Reid, who at the time was dating Margi Clarke, Tony Wilson’s colleague at Manchester TV station Granada, and introduced Wilson to a sandpaper copy of Mémoires.
The glueing of the 12” sheets of sandpaper with wallpaper paste to 2,000 record sleeves was undertaken by members of Joy Division and A Certain Ratio, who were offered £15 each. Reportedly, Ian Curtis, the only member of Joy Division with a wife and child, took on his bandmates’ shifts while they watched a porn movie in the room next door.
Some of the finished sleeves were left blank, while others were spray painted with stencils.
